NFL Draft 2024 live online: First-round picks, teams, players and big board updates

Everything is ready in Detroit, as the city and NFL fans are waiting for one of the most special sporting events in the US, the NFL Draft.

This will be a special draft and the reason is that the 2024 class is one of the most talented ones in years. The event will likely include three quarterback picks to begin the proceedings.

The draft, which will be held from Thursday to Saturday, will feature 257 players drafted over seven rounds. The first overall pick seems to be for Caleb Williams, who will officially become a member of the Chicago Bears.

How much will Caleb Williams make in his first year?

Many NFL pundits believe Williams will be a unique player and will have a great impact on the league. He has been compared to Patrick Mahomes, so the hype is very real and many eyes will be on the Washington DC native.

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner is the only college quarterback since 2000 to throw for 30-plus passing touchdowns and run for 10-plus touchdowns while throwing five or fewer interceptions in multiple campaigns.

Williams, who stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs in at 215 pounds, will bag a huge amount of money in his first year as a Bear. Once it’s confirmed he will be selected as the No. 1 pick, he will sign a four-year, $38,5 million contract, with a fifth-year team option. The player will bag about a $800,000-$900,000 salary and an additional $24.8 million signing bonus in his first year.

That sum will change considerably in his second year in Chicago, as his salary will be around $1 million and his roster bonus will be around $2.5-3 million.

In the unlikely event that Williams went No. 2, he would lose about $1-2 million on his total contract.
