How NFL’s Tom Brady played a role in the return of Cameron Diaz

For a couple of decades, the actress’ face was one of the most popular in the film industry, but she decided to get away from everything to start a family.

Cameron Diaz will turn 50 this August. For a couple of decades she was one of the most popular and requested faces in the film industry. She rose to fame with The Mask (1994) and since then added hits to her filmography catalogue including My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997), There’s Something About Mary (1998), Any Given Sunday (1998), Charlie’s Angels (2000) and Gangs of New York (2002).

Brady-Diaz: There’s something about ‘unretiring’

But little by little she Diaz began to lose some of her standing in favor of others and she herself reduced her activity until, in 2014 after an Annie remake, she effectively disappeared. One of those she told of this was Kevin Hart on his talk show a little less than a year ago.

“I got a peace in my soul because I finally was taking care of myself,” she said. “There’s a lot of energy coming at you at all times when you’re really visible as an actor and doing press and putting yourself out there. And I’m sensitive to energy.”

“Now it’s a different time in my life and I feel complete. After I stopped acting, I’ve had time for all those things that I couldn’t think about before, like meeting her husband and starting a family,” assured Diaz, who married Benji Madden in 2015 and welcomed their daughter Raddix in December 2019.

But the time has come for a return.

Back in that interview the actress stated the famous “never say, never” in reference to her return to acting, which is now a fact. And it is that the actress will star alongside Jamie Foxx in the action comedy Back in Action on Netflix. The actor himself was in charge of announcing the good news and he did it in a surprising way since he shared a telephone conversation between the two with another star guest, NFL quarterback, Tom Brady.

And as the legend of the NFL is an expert in that of retiring only to return a short time later, he joked to Diaz.

“I was talking to Jamie and he said you need a few tips on how to un-retire. I’m relatively successful at un-retiring,

Diaz confirmed the news on her Instagram account: “(Jamie Foxx) only you could get me back in action,” the actress wrote in an Instagram story. “I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!”

The movie will be under the guidance of Seth Gordon, although further details are unknown at the moment.
