“I wanted to feel sexy again”: Kelly Stafford opens up about why she went under the knife
Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford opened up about her “mommy makeover” and reflected on past health struggles.
On a recent episode of her podcast “The Morning After”, Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, opened up about her plastic surgery. She referred to the work she’s had done as a “mommy makeover” - she and Matthew share four daughters together, all under the age of 10.
Kelly Stafford talks body changes and brain surgery
Kelly Stafford brought on Dr. Garth Fisher as her guest for the episode. Fisher is a Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon who performed Stafford’s surgeries as well. Stafford revealed how he helped transform her body after four children.
“I had my boobs re-done and you also did the tummy tuck,” Stafford said to Fisher. “You put back together my abs.”
In the episode, the 35-year-old former cheerleader discussed the emotional and physical reasons behind her decision. She admitted to being confused and hesitant about the tummy tuck in the beginning, but ultimately felt empowered by the results and that it helped her feel sexy again.
“You want to do it when you still have that urge to feel sexy,” Stafford said. “I’m not saying at 18 years down the road I might not have a resurgence of that. But I also just think you’re older in age, and it gets tougher.”
Stafford also reflected on her past health struggles from 2019 when she had to undergo a 12-hour brain surgery to remove a benign tumor. Even after the procedure, she experienced a difficult recovery which led to her needing to relearn how to walk and temporarily separate from her kids.
Kelly and Matthew have been married for a decade. The couple met at the University of Georgia and married in 2015. Their daughters are 8-year old twins Chandler and Sawyer, 6-year-old Hunter, and 4-year-old Tyler. Kelly emphasized that her decision to undergo surgery wasn’t vanity-driven, but rather was about reclaiming her confidence and physical comfort post-childbirth.
