Injury scare for Lamar Jackson at Ravens practice
The Baltimore Ravens have been tipped to challenge for a Super Bowl this season and they need their quarterback at full fitness.
The Baltimore Ravens are breathing a sigh of relief after Lamar Jackson survived an injury scare with little over two weeks to go until the start of the 2025 NFL season.
Jackson and the Ravens have been tipped to challenge for the Super Bowl this year and the starting quarterback has not played in a single preseason game in an effort to protect his fitness.
But on Wednesday Jackson was knocked to the ground during team practice and he exited the field shortly after, alongside a trainer and the team doctor. ESPN reports that Jackson was flexing his right wrist as he left.
For a brief while it looked as though Jackson’s fitness was in doubt but a team spokesperson has since confirmed that the quarterback is fine. The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player has been remarkably durable for the Ravens, not missing a single game due to injury since the 2022 season.
Jackson should extend that incredible record when the Ravens take on the Buffalo Bills in their season opener in 18 days’ time. Baltimore will travel to Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium on Sunday September 7 to kick-start their 2025 campaign.
“He is a historically good passer,” head coach John Harbaugh said on the “This is Football” podcast last month. “And that’s really quite a statement because of the narrative that’s been surrounding him ever since the beginning.”
“Lamar Jackson can throw the football. He can throw it every kind of way, he can make every kind of throw any kind of way you want.”
