Is Aidan Hutchinson the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history?
The Detroit Lions have signed the star defensive end on a new four-year deal through 2030.

The Detroit Lions have handed superstar edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson a new deal, keeping him with the team through the 2030 season.
Hutchinson, still only 25 years old, is the cornerstone of the Lions defense and one of the league’s best defensive ends. The new contract is a four-year deal, worth a maximum of $180 million with $141 million guaranteed.

Speaking earlier this month, Lions head coach Dan Campbell made clear how important Hutchinson is to his team.
“The number of things that he’s able to do for us in the run and the pass game, man, it takes up. He pulls a lot slack, man,” Campbell said. “You talk about pulling your weight, he pulls his weight and then some. He requires a lot of resources offensively, which helps everybody else out. Guys like him, he’s in that rare world of, man, you don’t get the easy way out.”
Who is the high-paid non-QB in the NFL?
Unsurprisingly, the list of NFL big earners is dominated by quarterbacks. Looking at the average annual salary of each player, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is the league-leader with $60 million per year.
The top 11 names are all quarterbacks, with Super Bowl champion Jalen Hurts currently filling that No. 11 spot on $51 million per year. The first non-QB to get a look-in is Micah Parsons, who joined the Green Bay Packers earlier this year and signed a deal worth $46.5 million per year. Parsons is the best-paid non-QB in the league.
However Hutchinson is close behind with his annual salary of $45 million. He is joint-15th in the entire league, level with Patrick Mahomes and Kirk Cousins. Mahomes’ figure in this list is slightly misleading, giving that his $45 million salary comes from a massive 10-year, $450 million contract which is the largest total contract in NFL history.
