All throughout the Cowboys’ offseason, training camp, and preseason, their star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been absent. While his teammates practice in California, Lamb has stayed back in Texas to do training on his own as he awaits a new contract from his team.

Negotiations have gone nowhere fast, with the latest offer being said to have been around $33 million, which is still below the All-Pro’s expectations.

CeeDee’s cryptic Instagram Story

All throughout this saga, eyes have been on Lamb’s social media as we all look for hints. While Jerry Jones and co. are reassuring fans that talks are ongoing and they’re “optimistic” about a deal, comments Jones has made about not feeling the sense of urgency and CeeDee’s responses have been causing a bit of panic.

When Jones made the comment about the lack of urgency to get a deal done, CeeDee responded by posting “lol” on his X account. He then proceeded to remove all associations with the Dallas Cowboys from his social media, causing a real stir. Jones went on to clarify that he only meant that Lamb would not have participated in the preseason games and let him know that he is indeed missed.

Since then, the Cowboys have said they “remain optimistic”, but reports are that the deal is still nowhere near done. Today, Lamb posted a photo to Instagram that fans immediately started to dissect - a photo of Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman.

The thing is, the version of Spiderman he posted is the silver and black one, the suit Maguire wears when he goes rogue in the film. Is Lamb going rogue, too?

Lamb is currently set to make $17.99 million in the final year of his current contract while the likes of Justin Jefferson, A.J. Brown, and Tyreek Hill are making somewhere in the $30-35 million range. Lamb is one of the top receivers in the league and deserving of a pay raise. When and how that will happen remains to be seen, and this post is definitely a message. It’s just a question of what exactly that message is, but one thing is clear. The Cowboys need CeeDee, and for that, a deal must be done, and perhaps even with this urgency Jerry seems to lack.
