Is Jerry Jones the Joe Biden of the Cowboys?
Some Cowboys fans are calling on 81-year-old owner Jerry Jones to follow Joe Biden’s example and “drop out of the race”.
Jerry Jones has been the owner of the Dallas Cowboys for 35 years. In that time, he’s been involved in several scandals, including taking inappropriate photos with strippers, keeping an accused sex offender in an executive position in the organization, and his latest, being caught up in a paternity trial in which a woman claimed he paid her mother to stay quiet about being her biological father.
These types of stories, along with Jones being a billionaire businessman, make him seem a lot more like Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump than current President Joe Biden. And yet, it’s Biden with whom Jones is being compared lately, and it’s easy to see why.
Why is Jerry Jones being compared to Joe Biden?
President Joe Biden is 81 years old and was running for a second term, which if he won, would have made him 85 years old by the end of it. Of course, that’s not going to happen as Biden has since dropped out of the presidential race. Biden was under increasing pressure by other party members and voters to step down due to his declining cognitive abilities.
Biden had been losing his train of thought mid-sentence, getting world leaders confused with each other (he called Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s name), becoming forgetful, and sometimes even staring off into space. When he decided to drop out of the race, it was a relief to the Democrats.
Now, Cowboys fans are calling on Jerry Jones to step down as the Dallas Cowboys owner as well.
Jerry Jones, for his part, has been saying off-the-wall, whacky comments for years, but listening to him speak does feel eerily similar to listening to Joe Biden speak. Even Jones made fun of himself during the Cowboys press conference at training camp on Thursday. Watch what happens at the 21:20 mark.
Reporter Clarence Hill asked Jones about the coming 2024 season and Jones responded, “I appreciate you saying that Terrence....Clarence.” Upon mistaking the reporter’s name and correcting himself, Jones burst into laughter, turned to the man next to him, put his hand on his arm and asked, “Are we in Oxnard?”
Jones may have been playing it up, but he is the same age as Biden and does tend to go off on senseless ramblings. Biden made the sacrifice for the good of America, and now fans are asking Jones to make the same kind of sacrifice, for the good of America’s Team.
