Is Sam Darnold playing for the Seahawks against the 49ers? Seattle quarterback injury status

For fans of the Seattle Seahawks, the news that quarterback Sam Darnold had been added to the team’s injury list will have been the stuff of nightmares.

On Thursday’s practice report Darnold was listed as ‘questionable’ for Saturday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, owing to an oblique injury.

The loss of a quarterback at this stage of the season could be fatal for the Seahawks but Darnold was quick to reassure supporters when talking to reporters. Darnold insisted that there was “nothing to see here” and maintained that he fully expects to play against the 49ers.

When asked for the likelihood that he misses the game, Darnold replied: “Very low percentage. Probably closer to zero.”

He revealed that he had “felt a little something” while warming up on Thursday and had decided not to risk it, opting to sit out team practice for the day.

“Just in routes on air, just kind of felt a little something in my oblique, just didn’t want to push it,” Darnold explained. “So just came inside, got some rehab. And, you know, feel like I’ll be ready to go for Saturday.”

The Seahawks ended the regular season with a 14-3 record in the NFC West, finishing ahead of the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers. Seattle beat San Francisco 13-3 in the final game of the regular season and meet them again in Saturday’s Divisional Round.
