Is Tyreek Hill playing for the Miami Dolphins against the Cleveland Browns?
The 30-year-old wide receiver has been linked with a move away from Hard Rock Stadium but remains a key player for Mike McDaniel.
The Miami Dolphins' slim hopes of a postseason appearance continue into the penultimate weekend of the regular season, although they need a victory over the Cleveland Browns to avoid elimination.
Mike McDaniel’s side currently have a 7-8 record and may be without a key player for the trip to Huntington Bank Field on Sunday. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill is listed as questionable ahead of the game, due to a wrist injury that prevented him taking part in full practice across the week.
His availability hangs in the balance but head coach McDaniel gave Dolphins fans reason to be optimistic on Friday. Speaking to reporters, McDaniel said that an injury-affect Hill had still managed “a phenomenal week of practice.”
He continued: “Not only was he catching a ton of footballs this week, but he was doing so aggressively. On the move, coming back to the quarterback, and down the field, he had a very aggressive week of practice, which was very encouraging to see because he didn’t blink.”
Will Tyreek Hill play against the Browns?
As long as there is a playoff place on the line Hill will be encouraged to play through the pain barrier in a bid to push his side over the line. However results on Saturday could change the calculation.
In addition to winning their final two games, the Miami Dolphins need to hope that results elsewhere go their way to remain in the postseason picture. That means the Los Angeles Chargers and the Denver Broncos need to drop points on Saturday. If both teams win, the Dolphins will be eliminated before they have a chance to take to the field and the likelihood of Hill appearing in Cleveland will drop significantly.
The only other consideration for Hill could be the target of 1,000 receiving yards, which reportedly triggers an extra bonus payment in his contract. He is currently on 70 catches for 834 receiving yards, meaning that the four-figure target is still possible. Nevertheless, his 2024 performances have been far below his usual standards and barely half of the 1,799 receiving yards recorded last season.
