Jaguars 10 - 47 Bills summary, stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 3

ORCHARD PARK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 23: Josh Allen #17 of the Buffalo Bills reacts during the second quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Highmark Stadium on September 23, 2024 in Orchard Park, New York. This wasn't just Hamlin's teammates or the Buffalo fans standing up and cheering for a guy that has been through so much on his journey back, this was everyone in the football world celebrating the first interception of his career.

There were more TDs, in fact Allen would throw his fourth of the half right after the pick, but the Bills stopped posting TDs after the game got out of hand. The Bills now look like one of the top teams in the league while the Jaguars have some serious issues to correct. Doug Pederson might start to feel his seat getting warm in Jacksonville if it's not already.

as.com

It was a perfect night in Buffalo, but no moment was more perfect than this interception from Damar Hamlin in the 2nd quarter. Hamlin's comeback has been well documented, and for him to even be on the field is a miracle, but to be starting and making plays like this is even more incredible. The Bills defense had Trevor Lawrence frustrated all night. He was held to 21/38 for 178 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

as.com

The Bills scored TDs on their first five drives. This was the third TD drive that ended with a Keon Coleman TD catch from 25 yards out. The rookie is already a fan favorite in Buffalo, and that was before he started catching touchdowns. This is just the start of Allen and Coleman's era in Orchard Park.

as.com

Josh Allen had yet to have one of those eye dropping statistical games with his new crop of receivers this year but that changed on Monday night. He was almost perfect against the Jags who had no answer for the Bills passing attack. The first of Allen's four TD passes went to Dalton Kincaid who had 41 yards and this TD on three catches.

as.com

The Buffalo Bills made their case for the league's hottest team to start the season with their third straight win and second straight blowout after downing the Jacksonville Jaguars 47-10 on Monday night.

It was James Cook's night to shine last week in Miami, and he had the opening TD of the game to make it four in just over four quarters. Once Cook got his, it was time for Allen to take over. Cook ended the night with just 39 yards and this TD on 11 carries.

Tonight's odds

The Jags are on the verge of desperation, and tonight they come into Buffalo as 5.5 point underdogs, with the Over/Under set at 45.5.

Something’s got to give for the Jags tonight. They haven’t played well over the first few weeks of the season and tonight in Buffalo they know they have to perform. I’m not sure they win, but I do think they cover the 5.5 point spread. They have been a few plays away from winning their opening two games, and tonight I think they are in it until the end. Maybe they don’t win, but they keep it close again.

Bills win 23-21.

Allen's AD

Josh Allen has been the super star in Buffalo for a long time. He didn't need a full facade billboard on one of Buffalo's skyscrapers to know that, but he's got one now. The Bills QB is posted up in the heart of the city with a huge Gatorade ad asking "Is it in you?" Let's see he has has it in him to beat the Jags tonight on MNF.

Pizza Logs for the win?

I can guarentee if the Bills lose this game, they will be doing no more sponsored spots for Pizza Logs. I can also guarantee that if I had a box of those on hand I would smash them. Maybe with a side of Buffalo wings.

Head to head matchup

The Jags are one of the youngest franchises in the league, so these two teams haven’t match up too often. It’s been a pretty balanced series over the first 19 games with the Jags winning 10 games and the Bills winning 9. The Jags have won three of the last four games despite the Bills being the “better team” over the last few years. These two teams played last year in London when the Jags beat the Bills thanks to a big day from Travis Etienne while James Cook and the Bills run game were held to 29 yards rushing in the 25-20 loss.

WAS vs. CIN

The other game tonight takes place in Cincinnati where the Bengals will take on the Commanders in the second primetime game of the night. The Bengals lost their first game in a shocker against the Patriots, and then dropped a close one to the Chiefs last week. They are looking for their first win of the season against the Commanders and rookie QB Jayden McDaniel.

Cook's speed

If James Cook took off in a dead sprint in a school zone, he would be liable for a ticket with his 21 mph top speed. Luckily, Highmark Stadium is far from any school zone and he has the green light to turn on the jets in Orchard Park.

Balmy Buffalo

The Jags lucked out with the scheduling at least for this trip to Buffalo on the third Monday night of the season. We may be a few days into fall, but the temperature in Buffalo is still feeling like summer. If this was a few months later in the season, we'd be talking about a whole different ball game with a whole different game plan.

New stadium on the horizon

It's not quite ready just yet, but Bills fans know their new home is getting close to opening it's doors. Highmark Stadium has been home to Buffalo's team since the 70s, but after more than 50 years it's time for an upgrade. Will the Bills be able to send this field with so much history off with a Super Bowl? Or will they have to wait to celebrate their first Lomardi Trophy in their new stadium?

The Mafia on patrol tonight

Bills Mafia will be in full voice tonight as the Bills put their undefeated season on the line under the bright lights of Monday Night Football. It’s always a special occasion when primetime football comes to Orchard Park, so you know there will be cause for celebration, pregame for sure. We will see about post game.

Josh Allen vs. Josh Allen

We have a battle of the Josh Allen’s today in Buffalo. Josh Allen vs. Josh Allen. Defense vs. Offense. QB vs. DE. Josh Allen the QB may get more publicity and be the Josh Allen that first comes to mind because of the position he plays, but Josh Allen the DE is one of the best defenders in the league, and is coming off of his best season ever. Last year he had 17.5 sacks and 66 tackles to lead the Jags defensive unit. Tonight Jacksonville will need their pass rushing specialist to make his name twin uncomfortable all night long.

Jags TO problem

Last year the Jaguars had a big problem with turnovers. Trevor Lawerence threw 14 INTs and fumbled the ball five times last year, as the Jags wound up in the bottom five in the NFL for giveaways along with some of the worst teams in the league. The Jags have only turned the ball over once this season, but that turnover was a costly one that gave the Dolphins the opening to get back into the game and eventually led to Jacksonville losing the first game of the season. Tonight they will need to take care of the ball against a Bills defense that has three interceptions and a forced fumble through two weeks of the season.

Why are there two Monday Night Football games this week?

Double dose of MNF

Since last season the NFL has been implementing more and more Monday Night double headers. Tonight the Bills and the Jags kick off in the early slot while the Bengals and Commanders will kick off a little less than an hour after the game in Orchard Park begins. This is one of four Monday night double headers the NFL has in store this season. The reason for these double headers comes down to the recently signed media rights agreement which has granted ESPN and ABC more games airing on both channels.

Pederson on the hot seat?

It’s hard to imagine a coach being on the hot seat after the first two games of the season, but that’s the situation in Jacksonville right now. It’s not just that the Jags have lost the first two games of the season, but the way they have lost. It’s been less than impressive from a team that expected to be one of the contenders in the AFC. Is this a make or break game for Jags head coach Doug Pederson? That all depends on if the Jags can come out of Buffalo with a win tonight.

Allen's hand

Josh Allen had to play superman in the Bills opening game against the Cardinals. While putting Buffalo on his shoulders, he carried them to the finish line with a monster game with his legs and arm. In the process of leading his team on a comeback win he landed his on left hand and had to have it taped and gloved in the game against Miami. He wasn’t asked to do much against the Dolphins as Cook dominated the game, but tonight he may have to test that hand a bit more.

AFC Standings

Taking a look at the standings coming into this Monday night in Week 3 more than a few surprises in the AFC. There are three undefeated teams, including the Bills, left in the AFC. Maybe the biggest surprises are coming out of the AFC North where the Steelers are at the top of the table while the Ravens are 1-2 following their first win of the season in Dallas on Sunday. The Jags are looking for their first win, and if they were to get it, they would be just a game back of the division leading Texans.

Season so far: Bills

It was supposed to be the season in which the Super Bowl window was finally closed. After getting to the playoffs and falling short of a trip to the Super Bowl in the last few years, the Bills roster broke apart and Josh Allen came into the year with a new group of weapons that are relatively unknown. So far so good for Allen and the offense who have showed they have a couple different ways they can win games.

Season so far: Jags

There were high hopes for the Jaguars team coming into the season despite a collapse in the final two months of last season. Travis Etienne and Trevor Lawrence were a year older and a year wiser, and the defense was tabbed to be problem for opposing offenses thanks to their fantastic D line led by Josh Allen. So far there has been nothing but disappointment for the Jags who lost to Miami following Etienne’s fumble, and then lost to the Browns after another disappointing showing that dropped them to 0-2 after the first two weeks of the season.

Star watch: Bills

James Cook introduced himself to the world last week in Miami. He has been with the Bills for the last couple of seasons, and went for 1,000 yards last year but he had his breakout moment last week against the Dolphins. If he can keep that rhythm up for the rest of the season, Josh Allen’s job is going to become a whole lot easier and the Bills are going to be a tough team to beat if Allen doesn’t have to do everything for this team. Cook has 150 yards on 30 carries, and two TDs and another 50 yards and a TD on 4 catches.

Star watch: Jags

There hasn’t been a whole lot to get excited about for the Jags this season. No one is playing particularly well, so let’s use this portion of the preview to highlight players that need to step up. Travis Etienne has had the most unfortunate play of the season so far for the Jags. His fumble at the 1 yard line directly influenced their loss to the Dolphins in Week 1, and over the course of two games he is averaging just 48 yards although he does have 2 TDs. He needs to be more impactful for all four quarters if the Jags are going to start winning games.

Last game: Jags

After just losing out to the Dolphins in Week 1, the Jags hosted the Cleveland Browns in a game in which both teams were trying to bounce back from disappointing season openers. The Jags were able to move the ball against the Browns stingy defense, but struggled when they entered the red zone. Jacksonville went 1/4 inside the 20. Cleveland didn’t do much more to win the game, but their defense came up with the game winning safety with under 2:00 to go.

Last game: Bills

The Bills came out and jumped all over the Miami Dolphins in last week’s Thursday Night kickoff. James Cook scored three TDs in the first half to lead the Bills to a 24-7 lead before the halftime break. The defense had the Dolphins offense locked up all night, and when Tua Tagovailoa went down with another concussion, Miami’s chance for a comeback disappeared and the Bills went on to win 31-10 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

We are live from Highmark Stadium

Hello everyone and welcome to Buffalo where the Bills have been rolling to start the season, despite a massive cleaning of house on the offensive end over the offseason. Josh Allen and company have putting up points by the bucket load, and the defense has been doing their part despite coming into the season with a handful of injuries. The Jaguars, on the other hand have had a disastrous start to the season and if things don’t turn around quickly the Jags might find themselves out of the playoff race before October.
