Jaxson Dart’s contract details: What is the Giants’ QB’s salary and how many years does he have left?
The Giants’ rookie quarterback is just getting his career started as the hopeful future franchise QB. Here’s a look at the details of his contract.

When the New York Giants selected Jaxson Dart with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they not only secured his college upside but also locked in what many believe could be their franchise signal-caller for years to come.
Jaxson Dart’s contract with the Giants: the breakdown
Dart was initially signed to a four-year, $16.98 million contract with the Giants. Here are the full details of that contract:
- Length: 4 years
- Total Value: Approximately $16.98 million (fully guaranteed)
- Signing Bonus: $8.987 million
- Guarantees: Entire contract is fully guaranteed
- Fifth-Year Option: Included, which allows the Giants to extend his deal through a 2029 season if they choose to pick up the option

The fully guaranteed nature of the contract is a result of the NFL rookie wage scale structure, which dictates a relatively fixed range of salaries for first-round picks.
Jaxson Dart thrust into the spotlight
Dart began the 2025 season as the backup behind Russell Wilson, but was thrust into action after New York’s 0–3 start. In Week 4, he made his first career start and led the Giants to a 21–18 upset win over the previously unbeaten Chargers, throwing for 111 yards and a passing touchdown, and adding 54 rushing yards plus a rushing TD.
So far this season, he’s posting modest stats as he gains experience: completing roughly 65% of his passes for point totals in the 300-yard range, with three touchdowns and two interceptions, while also contributing 109 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
In Week 5, Dart showed promise early, connecting on two first-half touchdown passes to Theo Johnson. However, the game unraveled as the Giants committed five consecutive turnovers, including two interceptions from Dart and a lost fumble. The Giants fell 26–14 to the Saints as momentum slipped away.
"This was my first loss in the NFL, and if we're just being realistic, it's not going to be my last."

What’s ahead?
Though Dart’s rookie contract officially runs through 2028, the fifth-year option gives the Giants flexibility to extend him into 2029 if they believe he’s their long-term answer.
He carries the pressure that comes with being a high first-rounder: to grow quickly, limit mistakes, and prove that New York’s investment was worth more than just draft capital. If he can stabilize the offense, develop chemistry with his teammates, and minimize turnovers, the guarantee-laden contract gives him ample opportunity to solidify his place in New York.
