Jayden Daniels ruled out, Commanders hopeful for recovery
The second-year quarterback had a hard landing against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14, re-aggravating a previous elbow injury.

The Washington Commanders will be without their starting quarterback for at least one more week after Jayden Daniels was ruled out due to an elbow injury.
Daniels previously dislocated his left elbow during the Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Last weekend he suffered another hard landing in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings, re-aggravating the issue.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn was asked about the severity of the injury on Wednesday and he confirmed that Daniels will sit out the Week 15 game against the New York Giants on Sunday.
“We’re really bummed for Jayden,” Quinn explained. “He is working incredibly hard to get back on the field with his guys, so tough ... He’s absolutely going for it.”
There were no structural setbacks for Jayden Daniels. But after medical evaluations, the doctors have advised he not play on Sunday, and he will be re-evaluated next week. https://t.co/rAEabeO8g5 pic.twitter.com/MUtKpBZwMH

“Let’s see where we’re at next week,” he continued. “We’re always going to make the best decisions for him, for the team, [what] the medical opinions are.”
With the Commander sitting third in the NFC East with a 3-10 record, the season is effectively over. The team will be eager to ensure that Daniels is not rushed back, risking further damage to the elbow.
But the bigger picture for Washington is that Daniels’ fitness has been a problem this season, suffering multiple injuries that have seen him miss games. The second-year quarterback has had elbow, knee and hamstring injuries this year, meaning that he has appeared in just six of the team’s 14 games to date.
