Update:

Thirty years on from his last taste of Super Bowl glory, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn’t given up hope of adding a few more rings.

Jones, now 83, has overseen another failed season with the Cowboys, finishing outside of the playoff places with a 7-9-1 record. Dallas have not made it to the NFC Conference title game since 1995 and the team looks set for another major reshape over the offseason.

However Jones’ ambitions have not been dulled by years of underachievement and he reiterated his aims during a news conference on Wednesday.

My goal in life is to retire as the owner that won the most Super Bowls,” Jones said. “That’s my goal. To be retired in the NFL as the owner that won the most Super Bowls.”

“We’ve got three. How many more do I have to go as a single owner? [Patriots owner Robert Kraft] has got how many? Six? So, I got work to do. Got work to do. But at least I’m up to the second rung in the ladder.”

What next for the Dallas Cowboys?

Despite the team’s recent struggles, there is reason for optimism for Dallas fans. Dak Prescott has shown once again that he can be an elite quarterback, ending the regular season with more completed passes (404) than any other QB in the league.

Both CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens put up 1,000 receiving yards in 2025, while running back Javonte Williams also reached 1,000 running yards.

The problems have been defensive, with the Cowboys allowing 511 points across the 2025 regular season. That is the highest figure in franchise history.

Nevertheless Jones has insisted that his team is close to finding a winning formula that can get them into championship contention once again. Three decades on from his third Super Bowl success, Jones is eyeing the next one.

“Every team has holes,” Jones explained. “You have to. Just the way it works. But I see six teams that weren’t in the playoffs last year that are in the playoffs this year. I know it can happen. I know how close it is. And I think we can get in here and get the defense in shape quicker than it might look.”
