Whether you’re a fan of his or not, it’s hard not to feel sorry for the now-sidelined star. What was supposed to be the beginning of a dream, has now ended in a nightmare. The question now is, can Aaron Rodgers “rise yet again” as he says he will?

Aaron Rogers speaks on injury for the first time

It’s been two days since Aaron Rodgers’ first season with the New York Jets came to a sudden and most terrible end. Indeed, the four-time league MVP is now set to miss the entire 2023 season after he tore his Achilles tendon in the opening minutes of the Jets’ season-opening win against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. At 39 years old, some have begun to question whether we will see Rodgers play again, however, in his first public comments since the injury, Rodgers dispelled any idea of this being the end of the road. You can see the statement that he posted to his Instagram account below:

What will the Jets do without Aaron Rodgers?

With Rodgers no longer an option, the Jets have essentially been forced right back into the same situation they were in last season i.e., former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson who endured an up-and-down campaign last year, will now be the team’s starting quarterback according to head coach Robert Saleh. It was of course Wilson who replaced Rodgers on Monday night, as he went on to complete 14 of 21 passes including the game-tying touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson. Up next for the 24-year-old will be the Dallas Cowboys, a team that’s flown out of the starting blocks, evidenced by a 40-0 mauling of the New York Giants on Sunday night. As for Rodgers, it’s interesting to note that Saleh himself admitted that he expects Rodgers to return in 2024, and by the sound of the man himself, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
