Jets QB Justin Fields optimistic about 2025 season: “I think the sky’s the limit for this team, for this offense”
It’s been 15 years since the Jets last made it to the postseason, but their new QB is confident that the tide is turning.

The New York Jets ended the 2024-25 NFL campaign third in the AFC East and 11th in the Conference with a 5-12 record, and once again missing out on the playoffs.
It has been 15 years since the Jets last made it to the postseason - their last appearance in the playoffs was in 2010 when the team made it to the AFC Championship Game, only to lose to the Steelers. Since then, 14 seasons of disappointments - the longest drought by any NFL team during the modern era.
But recent arrival Justin Fields is confident that the team will turn things around next season.
The quarterback, who joined the Jets in March on a two-year, $40 million deal, spoke to reports after the second week of OTA practice.

Settling in and bonding with new teammates
“It’s been good. I’m new to the building so I’m just trying to get to know everybody - the workers here, of course my teammates, the coaches... I’m definitely enjoying my time here‚” Fields said in a new conference. “We’ve been installing a lot of stuff but I think the guys have handled it really well - putting a lot of our plate now, just so they’re used to it once training camp comes up. Tanner’s been great”.
Tanner being Tanner Engstrand, the Jets new passing game coordinator, who was brought in at the start of the New Year to work under under head coach Aaron Glenn.
“Just talking to him, you can tell he’s really smart - he knows what he’s doing. So I think he’s very detailed with installing the plays and stuff like that, especially in the limited time that we have now. He’s putting a lot of the guys’ plate, we’re getting a lot thrown at us right now but I think in the long run it’ll help us,” the 26-year-old said of former Lions’ passing game coordinator Engstrand.

“The sky’s the limit”
Fields added that his aim is continue his personal development and says he is optimsitic that it will all fall into place collectively as a team. “I think I can be great y’know - that’s been the goal for me my whole life, my whole career. I think the sky’s the limit for this team, for this offense, but we do have a long way to go like I said. Our offense, our defense is new so guys are really tuned in and locked in trying to get everything down but I think once we do, I think the sky’s the limit. We have all the guys we need, we have all the talent so it’s really gonna just come down to discipline and execution when the games come,” he ended.
The Jets’ preseason gets underway on August 9 against the Packers, and continue with games against the Giants (16th) and reigning champions, the Eagles (22nd) to prepare for the season opener against the Steelers on September 7.
