Jets 21 vs 27 Dolphins Tyreek Hill injury summary, stats, score and highlights | NFL Week 4

De'Von Achane got a well deserved TD after rushing for 99 yards on 22 caries. and that basically sealed the game for the Dolphins. Miami looked good in their first win, and the Jets looked terrible. They turned the ball over three times and committed 13 penalties. Head coach Aaron Glenn won't be happy about dropping to 0-4 but he'll be more upset about the self inflicted mistakes. 

The Jets came alive after going down two TDs. Justin Fields used his legs more than anything on Monday, and broke this 4th down conversion for 43 yards and a TD. He had 226 yards and a TD on 20/27 passing and added another 81 yards and this TD on the ground. 

Before Waller's second TD of the night disaster struck for the Dolphins. Tyreek Hill picked up a big third down conversion but suffered a gruesome injury on the Jets sideline. His leg had to get air casted and he was taken from the cart to the ambulance and to the hospital. The early diagnosis is a dislocated knee. 

The Jets seemed out of the game, but they were only down by 3 at halftime. They got the ball coming out of the break, but a fumble on the kickoff gave the Dolphins their third take away and Tua punished the Jets with his second TD connection to Waller. He ended the night with 177 yards and 2 TDs on 17/25 while the TE had 3 catches for 27 yards and two TDs. 

The Jets were driving after going down 10, but Justin Fields was faced with a 4th down and he fumbled the ball trying to get away from a Dolphins rush that was all over him all night. The Jets and the Dolphins were the only teams left without a take away this season, but only one team ended the night still searching. 

The Dolphins went 96 yards after the fumble from NY, and they stretched the lead to 10 with this TD pass to Darren Waller who caught his first TD as a Dolphins. The Miami offense looked good on Monday. They didn't look as explosive as maybe we have seen in years past, but they controlled the ball and controlled the clock. 

The Miami Dolphins got a much needed win in a battle 0-3 teams on Monday Night Football. They turned the New York Jets over three times and that was enough to allow Tua Tagovailoa to led Miami to victory. 

The Dolphins kicked a field goal on their first drive, but the Jets looked like they were going to take the lead after easing down the field using the ground game to get inside the 5 yard line. It looked like Braelon Allen was on his way to the the end zone when he had the ball popped out of his hands. MIA recovered and there would be more where that came from for the home team. 

First lets show you the catch from Wilson who made a fantastic catch but it was too late to matter for the Jets. Look at the hands. Look at the feet. This is one of the best catches you'll see this season.

The Dolphins get their first win as the Jets drop to 0-4

The Jets try the Stanford Cal lateral play but that ends with a flag for a forward pass and that's going to do it. 

The punt is downed at the 1 so NY need 98 yards in 2 seconds. 

Gordon is doppd for a loss of three yards and the Dolphins will run the clock down to 12 seconds.

Achane up the middle and he picks up 3 yards.

Achane is stopped for no gain, and NY take a timeout with 1:44 to go.

The Jets try the onside kick but that is swallowed up by Waller who had the first two TDs of the game and ended it with that catch with 1:48 to go. NY does have one timeout but MIA can wind this clock almost all the way down.

Fields looks shot for Reynolds on the left side but that pass is batted away by Fitzpatrick.

Fields over the middle for Ruckert over the middle and he gets a nice chunk of 12 yards and a first down.

Fields goes deep to the right corner of the end zone for Wilson who makes a great catch but a flag flies for offensive pass interference and that will take us to the end of the 3rd quarter.

NY get the ball from their 37 and Fields fires over the middle for a big gain of 18 to start the drive.

Tua had to spin out of the pocket but his pass to the right side for Washington was batted away by Adams.

This was the play that Tyrrek was injured on and it does not look good for the Miami WR. He left the field with a smile on his face, but he is on the way to the hospital to get further medical attention. 

Handoff out of the shotgun and he is dropped by Sieler again, for a loss of 1. 

4th and 7 from the NY 49 and NY will punt with 2:42 to go in the 3rd quarter.

Hall is stopped in the backfield on the run to the left and it was Sieler making the tackle.

Hall back up the middle and he gets another 5 yards on first down.

The Jets get the ball from their 35 and Hall takes it up the middle for a gain of 11 yards to start the drive.

The Dolphins respond with a TD after Fields' long 4th down scramble into the end zone and it's Achane make moves and dancing his way into the end zone. 

Tua finds Waddle inside the 9 with a pass off the bootleg and he reels it in on the left side.

Gordon to the left side and he gets 4 yards on first down.

Tua tucked it and ran up the middle for a gain of 5 yards and got crushed by Oliver on a late hit and Tua thankfully got up. We all know his history with concussions, so it's got to see him with a smile on his face. A flag flies for a late hit and it's a first down for MIA.

Tua to the right side for Westbrook-Ikhine on the right side and he gets a yard in the flat.

Tua with another roll out but he is pushed out of bounds after getting a yard.

Tua with the play action roll out to the left and he finds Waddle in stride fo a gain on 16 yards.

MIA take over from their 32 and Tua goes for Waddle over the middle and a flag flies for pass interference on NY.

Take a look at this move from Fields to get out of the pocket, out of pressure and into space to take it for a 43 yard TD! Boy did the Jets need that. 

Great return from Davis who takes it out to the NY 43, and after three runs for 9 yards it's 4th and 1 from the MIA 43. 

It's a gruesome injury, so it may not be posted by Hill seemed to be in good spirits as he left the field with his leg in an air cast. 

After the Dolphins force a fumble on the opeing kick of the half, Tua marches his team down the field and punches it into the end zone with another TD connection with Waller. It's a bittersweet score after seeing Tyreek Hill go down with a serious leg injury .

Terrible scene here as Hill has to be lifted up and taken off on a cart. That looked ugly. 

Tua finds Hill on the left side and he is pushed out of bounds after a gain of 10 and a first down and he stays down clutching his leg.

William took it back to the 36 but lost it as he got hit and the Dolphins recover it for their third forced TO of the game!

The Dolphins D came up with another big play on 4th down, as they stripped Justin Fields right around mid field. 

FIelds is 8/11 for 54 yards, and has 30 yards rushing and this fumble. 

The Dolphins got the ball from their 4 and marched all the way down the field as Tua got hot. He found Darren Waller on 4th and Goal to extend the lead to 10-0. 

Tua is 11/15 for 115 yards and a TD after two quarters. 

The Dolphins drove down the field and kicked a field goal, but on NY's first possession they controlled the line of scrimmage and ran all over the Miami D. Once they got inside the 5, it was the Dolphins who buckled down and forced a fumble as Allen looked like he was going to cross the end zone.

Folk hit the 58 yard field goal by a matter of inches to put NY on the board on the last play of the half.

The Dolphins are rocking their Rivalry edition jersey for Monday night. They have a little South Beach swag in those jerseys but lets see if that translates to the field tonight. 

Slim postseason odds for 0-4 teams

This is already must win territory for both of these teams on the field tonight. After 0-3 starts they are facing an up hill battle already but starting 0-4 would essentially knock the loser of tonight’s match up out of the playoffs less than a month into the season. Only one team that has started 0-4 has made the postseason since the NFL expanded to a 12 team playoff back in 1990. That was the 1992 San Diego Chargers. Its been 33 years since then and not a single team has made the playoffs after an 0-4 start since.

It's a big Monday Night with two games kicking off to wrap up Week 4. The Dolphins and Jets are about to kickoff the evening and then the Cincinnati Bengals will take on the Denver Broncos in just about a hour. 

Glenn's new philosophy in New York

The Jets may be 0-3 but there is reason to be optimistic in New York. I know it’s hard to believe, especially if you are a Jets fan who has seen this same old story before but Aaron Glenn looks to have injected life into this team. The Jets have had a coaching carousel for the last the last 7 or 8 years, but Glenn came over from the Lions and looks to have bought the belief back to the Big Apple. Just look at him after the blocked FG in Tampa last week. He’s got some swag and it looks to be infecting the entire team. 

Hot seat for McDaniel

Its been a rumor since before the season even started. Mike McDaniels is on the hot seat and apparently has been since the preseason. He has not had the results the Dolphins were looking for when they hired him in 2022. Their offense has been good at times but that hasn’t been good enough lead them into a deep run in the playoffs, or even beat good teams for that matter. Now after an 0-3 start McDaniels is on the brink of a Dolphins departure. Tonight could be his last game if he can’t lead the Fins to their first win of the season. 

Ready for a Field day?

The Jets newest QB 1 had a great debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was one of the best games the former Bear and Steeler had in his career, but in Week 2 against the Bills he was knocked out of the game with a concussion. He missed last week’s game in Tampa, but tonight head coach Aaron Glenn has confirmed that he will be available and will be under center to start this big divisional game in Miami. 

Jets star watch

This year started with a bang for Jets running back Breece Hall. The Jets lost that game, but the thought in New York was that this is finally Hall’s year to break through after failing to reach 1,000 yards in his first three years. Against the Steelers stingy defense in Week 1 he had 107 yards, but since then he had a 29 yard game and a 21 yard game. Tonight he’s going up against one of the worst run defenses in the league. This could be Breece Young’s night to introduce himself in front of a national audience. 

Star watch: Dolphins

Lets think back a couple years ago when the Miami Dolphins were an offensive juggernaut that were liable to light up the scoreboard. That was because they had Tua Tagovailoa at the head of the fastest, most explosive offense in the game. With Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill at WR this team was nearly unstoppable when they had possession of the ball. That’s not exactly the case anymore. Injuries have mounted for Tua and that has had a trickle down effect on the rest of the team. He had a 315 yard game against the Pats, but 114 against the Colts and 146 against the Bills. Through three games he’s got 5 TDs and 4 INTs. If the Dolphins are going to turn things around, he’s going to have to be the catalyst for Miami. 

Jets last game

What a wild game it was in Tampa Bay as the looked dead and dusted after the first three quarters. It was 23-6 after a TD pass to Baker Mayfield to Mike Evans and then a Jamel Dean pick six right before the halftime break. With back up QB Tyrod Taylor in under center the Jets came roaring back thanks to a couple TD passes from Taylor and then took the lad with a blocked kick that they returned for a TD with 1:49 to go. Unfortunately for the Jets that left Mayfield time to build a game winning drive as he marched TB down the field and set up a game winning 36 yard field goal for Chase McLaughlin. Just minutes after having his last field goal blocked, he drilled the walk off winner to move his team to 3-0 and drop the Jets to 0-3. 

Dolphins last game

No one gave the Dolphins a chance to beat the Bills last Thursday night, but somehow, someway Miami put up a fight against one of the best teams in the league. Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins kept pace with the Bills through the first 30 minutes and really until deep into the final quarter. At 21-21 with under 11 minutes left in the game, the Bills were punting after stopping the Bills right around midfield. A roughing the kicker penalty gave the Bills a first down and the Josh Allen punished them with a 15 yard TD pass a couple minutes later. Tua had the Dolphins driving on the next possession, but first and only mistake of the night cost the Fins a chance to tie the game up. He was picked off by Terrell Bernard and the Bills held on as Miami dropped to 0-3.
