Jimmy G trade speculation: Cowboys or Rams?
With Dak Prescott’s serious injury and Matthew Stafford’s annoying elbow issues, Jimmy Garoppolo could be a potential option for both the Cowboys and the Rams.
When San Francisco chose to keep veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo around, they did so with perhaps the objective of a trade coming up at some point in the 2022 NFL season.
Following week 1, trade speculation already started for G.
Going after Jimmy G: Cowboys or Rams?
On Sunday night, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott sustained an injury in the 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys didn’t hesitate to immediately announce that their quarterback needs surgery and will miss several weeks. We have reason to believe that Dallas would highly be interested in acquiring Garoppolo, who has proven himself among the big names in the league.
Having taken the 49ers to Super Bowl LIV and the 2022 NFC Championship Game, the 30-year-old is an attractive asset for any team with quarterback doubts/issues right now.

Can Jimmy G be traded under new 49ers contract?
Additionally, the Seattle Seahawks, who were constantly mentioned as a possible landing spot for the QB, and the Cowboys, who could potentially reach out, are not the only teams eying Jimmy. According to ESPN, prior to signing a revised contract with the 49ers to keep him in San Francisco through the end of the 2022 season, Garoppolo and the Los Angeles Rams “had the makings of a deal” in place in the event that the QB had become available.
Garoppolo’s new contract includes a no-trade clause, which means San Francisco could deal him away before the Nov. 1 trade deadline. However, they can only send G. to a team that he wants to play for since he would have to sign off on any possible trade.
So while a lot of people are concerned with Prescott’s injury and Dallas’s potential search for a backup QB, it’s safe to say that things are just as bad for the Rams with Stafford’s elbow injury, which he had a procedure on earlier this year. Los Angeles might still be considering going after Garropolo.
Whether or not the Cowboys or the Rams will want to part with any assets in a possible Garoppolo trade remains to be seen.
