J.J. Watt’s hysterical reaction to his brother T.J.’s record signing deal

J.J. and T.J. Watt are most likely the best brother duo the NFL has ever seen, and two of the most likable guys despite being monsters in the pass rush.

Update:

Pittsburgh Steelers fans went to bed last night breathing a sigh of relief after hearing the news of their team signing the heart and soul of the squad, T.J. Watt. His brother went to sleep knowing that future get togethers are going to be awfully inexpensive for the older Watt brother.

Steelers break bank for T.J.

T.J. Watt’s three-year extension worth $123 million makes him the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history, and will most likely keep him in Pittsburgh until he retires. Watt is happy. The Steelers are happy. The fans are happy, and his older brother J.J. will be happy if he never has to pay another check again.

After the news broke last night, J.J. went to X and joked, “I swear, if this guy even lets me begin to reach for my wallet at dinner…”

J.J. who played mostly with the Houston Texans, blazed the trail in the NFL for his younger brother retired in 2022, and passed the torch to T.J. Both brothers are monsters on the field, but off the field they seem to be pretty likable guys who have starred in commercials, shows and even did an interview together after one of T.J.’s games when J.J. was in the studio.

Which Watt is better?

Before taking the jokey route, he did shower his younger brother with praised with a post that said, “Earned. Deserved. Incredible.” While he can be elated that his brother is now the top earning top QB in the league, looking at the numbers have to sting a bit.

J.J. was a three time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and in his 12 year career he made $129.7 million. His brother is set to make that in the next three years, and that’s after signing a $112 million deal a few years ago.

It’s hard to say who is the better, more dominant pass rusher. T.J. has won one NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, has been named to the NFL All-Pro First Team four times and holds the record for sacks in a season with 22.5. J.J. won the Defensive Player of the Year awards, was named to the First Team five times and currently has 6.5 more career sacks than his younger brother does. I’m not sure who the better pass rusher is, but I know J.J. would have got mega paid if he was still in his prime in today’s NFL.
