Over the last few seasons, we’ve seen the likes of Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and Justin Herbert all enjoy the title of highest paid quarterback in the NFL. This season, however, the Bengals’ man in the middle is the undisputed king of the hill. The question is, how much is making?

How much is Joe Burrow earning in 2023?

Let’s be clear from the get go. With a five-year, $275 million contract extension signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in September, quarterback Joe Burrow is not just the highest paid QB in the game today, he is the highest paid player in the history of the NFL. In terms of details, that works out to roughly $55 million per year in AVV which it has to be said, is not pocket change. Aside from the numbers involved, the contract undoubtedly secures Burrow as the face of Bengals, something that simply makes sense when considering the fact that he has led the franchise to two consecutive AFC championship game appearances in the last two years. One of those appearances resulted in a trip to the Super Bowl which was narrowly lost to the Los Angeles Rams

Is Joe Burrow worth it?

While the answer to that question will always be considered relative, there are a few things that we have to take as absolute. For starters, Burrow has played three full seasons with the Bengals and in that time he has etched his name in the record books. So far he has registered the most (4,611) and second-most (4,475) single-season passing yards, the most (35) and second-most (34) single-season passing touchdowns, and has already positioned himself at No. 6 on the list of career passing yards with 11,774 and passing touchdowns with 82. This is all to say that the kid has most definitely got game. That’s before we get to his career completion rate of 68.2% which is the best for any qualifying quarterback in NFL history.

OK, but what about Joe Burrow’s contract details?

As mentioned above, Burrow and the Bengals agreed to a five-year, $275 million contract that will see him not only stay in Cincinnati, but become the focal point of the franchise. Aside from the aforementioned $55 million per year, the 26-year-old will also be receiving a historic amount in guaranteed money when it comes to a single contract. How much are we talking? Around number of $219.01 million guaranteed in the deal, which is the second-most guaranteed money in NFL history behind only the fully guaranteed $230 million that was secured by the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback Deshaun Watson.
