Josh Allen may need surgery: Will injury affect Bills’ 2026 season?
The Buffalo Bills have confirmed that the quarterback may need surgery to address a right foot issue.

The 2025 season ending in agony for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, both mentally and physically.
The Bills’ playoff hopes ended with a 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC divisional round game last Saturday. Allen had been playing through the pain in the playoffs, dealing with a right foot injury sustained in Week 16.
Now, with the Bills’ playoff hopes dashed for another year, Allen is facing the prospect of undergoing surgery in the offseason.

Why might Josh Allen need surgery?
Allen suffered a right foot injury in the Bills’ win over the Cleveland Browns last month. The quarterback was then feeling the after-effects of that knock in the following weeks, right up to the playoff defeat to the Broncos.
His condition had not been fully clear during the Bills’ playoff run but Bills general manager Brandon Beane revealed the extent of Allen’s issue on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters, Beane said that Allen may need to undergo surgery to address the right foot injury.
However Beane went on to add that surgery was not yet guaranteed and that Allen would be back in time to take part in organized team activities ahead of the 2026 season.
Allen, now 29 years old, remains committed to Buffalo despite the recent departure of long-serving head coach Sean McDermott. Bills owner Terry Pegula has confirmed that Allen will be involved in the process to identify a new head coach.
