Josh Allen offers advice to rival team’s QB
Rookie Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart reveals the guidance he received from the Bills superstar ahead of their preseason clash.

The Buffalo Bills open their preseason against the New York Giants on Saturday, August 9, but Josh Allen won’t be suiting up. The reigning MVP won’t play at Highmark Stadium, but he could still influence the game from afar… and possibly help the opposing quarterback.
Jaxson Dart to play for the Giants against the Bills
Giants head coach Brian Daboll confirmed that rookie QB Jaxson Dart will play against the Bills, though he didn’t say whether the 22-year-old would start or come off the bench.
Dart, the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, called the moment “surreal,” as he prepares to play on the same field where one of his quarterback idols became a superstar.
Giants QB Dart’s admiration for Josh Allen
The former Ole Miss signal-caller even got a chance to pick Allen’s brain shortly after the draft, thanks to Daboll, who coached Allen in Buffalo from 2018 to 2021.
“He’s been someone I’ve really looked up to,” Dart told reporters. “Since arriving here, I’ve been watching a ton of his tape and how he ran Coach Dabs’ system. It’s going to be kind of a surreal feeling to be on the same field as him.”

Dart also shared the advice Allen gave him heading into his rookie season.

"I'm not scared. When I go out there, I'm going to play the game I know how to play. ... I think if you're going to play scared as a quarterback, you shouldn't be out there." #Giants #Bills pic.twitter.com/y32grCXZZD
“He talked a lot about leadership,” Dart said. “That was his main thing, and just being the best teammate you can be. As a quarterback, you’ve got to raise the standards for everyone around you.”
Who will be the Giants’ starting QB this season?
For now, Dart is expected to begin the season as backup behind Russell Wilson, who was named the Giants’ starter after signing a one-year deal. But with Wilson nearing the end of his career, Dart may not have to wait long for his chance.
In the meantime, he’ll benefit from the guidance of Daboll and Mike Kafka, both key offensive minds. Kafka, now the Giants’ assistant head coach and offensive coordinator, began his NFL coaching career with the Kansas City Chiefs during Patrick Mahomes’ rookie year.
