The Buffalo Bills held off the Miami Dolphins 31-21 on Thursday Night Football, improving to 3-0 to start the NFL season. Josh Allen led the way with three touchdown passes, tying Patrick Mahomes for the most games with at least three TD throws (46) since 2018.

Running back James Cook chipped in with 108 rushing yards and a score, giving Buffalo balance on offense as they continued their perfect start.

Costly Dolphins mistake opens the door

Miami kept the game close but cracked under pressure in the fourth quarter. Facing fourth-and-7 at midfield, Buffalo lined up to punt, but Dolphins defensive tackle Zach Sieler was flagged for roughing the punter. The 15-yard penalty moved the Bills to Miami’s 36-yard line, and five plays later Allen connected with Khalil Shakir for a decisive touchdown.

Moments later, linebacker Terrel Bernard intercepted Tua Tagovailoa with three minutes left, halting a drive that could have tied the game at 28-28.

Veteran kicker Matt Prater later drilled a 48-yard field goal to seal the win, recovering after missing a 39-yarder earlier that went wide left.

Dolphins hit rock bottom at 0-3

Miami’s loss dropped them to 0-3, their worst start since 2019. Tagovailoa finished 23 of 34 for 146 yards, throwing touchdown passes to Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. Rookie running back Ollie Gordon added a rushing score.

The Dolphins now turn their attention to Week 4, when they host AFC East rivals the New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium. Head coach Mike McDaniel already faces growing pressure, with speculation about his job security if the team doesn’t quickly turn things around.
