Herbert gaining on NFL great
Since Herbert surpassed Winston as the player with the second-most passing yards in the first five years, who is the first? That title belongs to NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, who had a total of 20,618 yards at the end of his first five seasons in the NFL.
By the end of the game, Herbert had 147 yards, making a total of 19,774 yards through his first five seasons. But the Chargers still have five games left to play. He surpassed Winston, who had 19,737 yards through his first five seasons, and he could still surpass Manning by the end of this season. He needs 844 yards over the next five games to do so.
