Kittle threatens Cowboys with repeat offense on Netflix’s “Receivers”

The Cowboys dealt with a particularly brutal loss to the 49ers last season and what tight end George Kittle did just rubbed salt in the wounds.

Netflix’s recent release of the documentary series “Receivers” follows some of the NFL’s top receivers from last season, including one of the best tight ends in the league, San Francisco 49ers George Kittle. The Niners lost in Super Bowl LVIII to the Kansas City Chiefs, 25-22, and the series follows Kittle and the Niners’ path to getting there.

What did Kittle say he would do to the Dallas Cowboys again?

The 49ers played the Dallas Cowboys in early October last year. The two teams have created a rivalry since the 1970s, both being in the NFC and playing each other several times in the NFC Championship Game in that decade. It gained even more traction in the early ‘90s when they faced each other in the NFC title game three years in a row. The Cowboys won the first two and the Niners won the third, and the winners of those games all went on to win the Super Bowl that year. From 1992 to 1995, either the Cowboys or the 49ers were the Super Bowl champions.

The rivalry died for a little bit after those years, but was revived in 2021, when they played each other in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs with the Niners taking the win. The next year, in 2022, the Niners beat the Cowboys in the Divisional Round. So when the two teams met in 2023, the Cowboys wanted redemption for being eliminated from the playoffs by the Niners two years in a row, but they would sadly not get that. Quite the contrary, in fact.

When the Cowboys and 49ers met at Levi’s Stadium, Dallas suffered a brutal 42-10 loss. George Kittle, who just happened to turn 30 years old that day, scored three of the touchdowns for San Francisco. After one of those touchdowns, he decided to pour salt in the Cowboys’ wounds by lifting his jersey to reveal a grey t-shirt with the words “f**k Dallas” written on it in Cowboys’ blue text.

Classy.

Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons took offense to the message saying he “made it way more personal than it had to be.” “Kittle is my guy, but Imma say this: laugh now, cry later”. It sounds like he really wants revenge this year.

Kittle had made more of the t-shirts for the other Niners tight ends, but he was the only one brazen enough to wear it…and show it - a move that cost him $15,000. Teammate Deebo Samuel called him rude, but Kittle said he didn’t care about the fine, had no regrets, and “might do it again if given the opportunity”.

There will certainly be an opportunity. The San Francisco 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys at Levi’s Stadium on October 27, 2024.
