Lamar Jackson hasn’t said much about his contract negotiations with the Baltimore Ravens, but they haven’t given him $250 million guaranteed.

The status of Lamar Jackson’s contract with the Baltimore Ravens has been a topic of discussion in the media during the whole season. There are those in the league who believe that Baltimore needs to extend him this summer to prevent themselves from losing him after the 2022 season. Reports indicate that discussions have taken place on and off over the summer, but nothing concrete has resulted from them.

Stephen A. Smith from ESPN has stated that he agrees with the original attitude. According to Smith, Lamar Jackson should not play until he has signed a new contract.

“Not at all. Not even a little bit,” Smith said when asked if Jackson should play without a new contract, via Larry Brown Sports. “I think that would be one of the dumbest things he could possibly do.

And it seems that many other fans are thinking in a manner not dissimilar to Smith. When in good health, Lamar Jackson is an extremely dangerous dual-threat quarterback. Over the course of the last few years, worries over injuries have been an issue.

Why haven’t the Ravens offer him the money?

However, if Jackson is able to avoid injury in 2022, he will have a good chance of contending for the award for Most Valuable Player. In the meanwhile, assuming Jackson stays on the field for the Ravens, there is a chance that they will make the playoffs.

The only thing holding the Ravens back from signing him is probably the fact that he is only 25 years old and prone to injuries. However, they have to settle on a choice quickly before it is too late. The potential loss of a player of Lamar Jackson’s caliber might be disastrous for the company.

On the other hand, the Ravens’ ownership and front office have seemed a little confused by Jackson’s way of negotiating contracts. That is, he hasn’t always been very interested in the process.
