Los Angeles Rams 12 vs 24 Green Bay Packers summary: stats and highlights | Week 15
The Green Bay Packers came out off their bye knowing every game is a must win from here until the rest of the season, and took care of the first of four games in the final stretch of the season with a 24-12 win over the Los Angeles Rams. AJ Dillon had two rushing touchdowns in the Monday Night victory from a freezing Lambeau Field.
Green Bay get through first test
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers used their bye week to get rested and ready for the final stretch of the regular season and came out fresh against a Rams team that went through a midseason make over when they brought in Baker Mayfield from Carolina.
It was below freezing all night long in Green Bay, and the Rams offense never got hot in Mayfield’s second game under center for LA. The defense held the Rams to just 156 yards, and kept them out of the end zone all night long.
Rodgers and the Packers offense took a little while to gets off the ground in the Frozen Tundra. After both teams exchanged early field goals, AJ Dillon punched the first touchdown of the game in late in the second quarter.
Offense ignites in 3rd quarter
That seemed to ignite the Packers offense, who came out of the halftime break with back to back touchdowns. The first TD drive took almost half of the third quarter, and AJ Dillon got his second touchdown on a one yard run into the end zone to extend the lead to 17-6.
After forcing the Rams into a three and out the Packers had a quick strike TD drive that took just three minutes and was capped off by Aaron Rodgers seven yard pass to Aaron Jones to make is 24-6.
The Rams would get into the end zone right before the end of the third quarter, but that would be the last time they got on the board as the GB defense shut down Mayfield and LA for the rest of the game and the Packers would close the game out with a nine minute drive to run out the clock.
Packers need to win out for postseason chances
Rodgers threw for 229 yards a touchdown and an interception in the must win game, and Aaron Jones ran for 90 yards and had a receiving touchdown.
The Packers finish off the season against three teams with .500 records or better, starting with the Dolphins in Miami next week.
Rodgers knows there is work to be done, but they are going to enjoy this win for a while before setting sights on the game in Miami next week.
Rodgers got his touchdown late in the third quater when he found Jones out of the backfield from 7 yards out.
The Green Bay defense was locked in from the start and allwed just 156 yards in a must win game in the Frozen Tundra.

The Packers needed a win tonight, and Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay are still alive in the playoff race at 6-8.
The Packers are going to kneel it down and that decision is met with a boo from some a Lambeau.
Jones gets 3 yards and picks up the first down. The Packers can kneel it down and end the game, or they can try for a TD to tack on to the lead.
Rodgers looks for Watson out of the Two Minute Warning and Rodgers with a quick trigger to Watson who didn't know the pass was coming.
4th and 2 and the Packers will go for it.
Rodgers fakes the toss and finds Watson on the crossing pattern for 8 yards and that takes us to the Two Minute Warning.

Pass to the flat to Doubs and a great open field tackle from Hill who dropped the WR for no gain.

Jones back in the backfield, and he gets the toss to the right side and busts it for 14 yards.

Taylor wrapped up after a gain of a yard.
2nd and 9 from the LA 26.
Green Bay goes play action on 3rd and short, and Rodgers hits Watson on the crossing route for a 13 yard gain.
1st and 10 from the LA 27.
Taylor gets another handoff and get gets 3 yards to bring up 3rd and short.
3rd and 1 from the LA 40.
Taylor gets the hand off out of the shotgun and gets 6 yards.

Rodgers finds a wide open Doubs after the play action froze the line backers and that goes for 23 yards and a first down.

Taylor moves the chains on a gain of 5 yards and that will keep the clock running.

Jones gets the toss to the left side and he takes the carry for nine yards on first down.

Mayfield tucks and runs, but that goes nowhere as he was dropped after a gain of 1.
Rams will punt on 4th and 15 with 8:51 to go in the 4th.
Screen pass to Powell falls incomplete and almost intercepted.

After the big penalty, Mayfield is dropped by Smith for a loss of six yards and the Rams are playing behind the chains.

LA have to take their second timeout to save a delay of game, and after the TO, Mayfield goes deep to Atwell after the play action fake and he was bumped by Amos and the flag flies for defensive PI.

The Rams drive starts from the LA 15 and Mayfield hits Powell on the screen pass for 4 yards.

Jones with a burst up the middle, and made a move around a few defenders and tried to move the pile at the end of the run, but Ramsey came out of the pile with the ball after ripping it from Jones.
A facemask against the Rams will back LA up 15 yards, but they hang on to the ball and will start the drive down 12 with 11 minutes left in the game.
Jones gets three yards on the first down run up the middle.

Mayfield was pressured and had his hand hit on the thrown and it fell right into the hands of Douglas.
GB take over from the LA 34, the third straight drive they start from Rams territory.
Mayfield on the the roll out and he is dropped for a loss of three yards.

LA start their drive from the LA 13, and Akers is stopped for no gain on the first down run.

Rodgers is dropped in the backfield by Floyd who came rushing off the edge and the Nixon return is wasted after the sack.

Cobb on the slant and it looked like he made the catch and then was stripped and the Packers fell on to it, but the pass was called incomplete.

Dillon is eaten up in the backfield for a loss of 4 yards and that will take yus to the end of the third quarter.

Mayfield and Higbee on the TD connection on third down to but into the lead and send us to the fourth quarter with this game still in reach.

After the timeout a perfect play call drawn up by McVay and Mayfield finds Higbee in the endzone for an 8 yard in route for the TD.
Rams cut into the lead, but GB are still up 24-12.
Mayfield looking for Atwell in the end zone, but the pass was tipped and then batted down as Atwell looked to make the adjustment.
3rd and Goal form the GB 8 and the Rams take a TO with 30 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.
Akers gets two yards on the first down run up the middle.
2nd and Goal from the 8.
Akerts breaks it through a hole on the right side and he takes it for 19 yards inside the 10 yard line.

Akers gets the first down run after the penalty, and he picks up 8 yards.

Screen pass to Akers and he takes it down the left sideline for an 18 yard gain, and a low block on the defense will move the Rams to the GB 37 after the penalty.

Rodgers stepped up in the pocket, extending the play and looking for Cobb in the end zone, but the pass is batted down. A flag flew in the end zone and the Rams are penalized for illegal contact on Ramsey.

Rodgers hit Jones out in the flat and he took it 4 yards before getting pushed out of bounds.

Rodgers on a disguised screen pass to Jones but Wagner sniffed it out and stopped him for no gain.

We generally don't show field goals on the halftime highlights package, but when you hit a 55 yard FG in a frigid Frozen Tundra like Matt Gay did, we have to give some love.
Dillon muscled his way into the end zone late in the second quarter for the game's only TD so far.
Rapp picked off the overthrown pass from Rodgers, but that was the only mistake the Packers made in the first half.
The Rams weren't moving the ball with that much ease, but Mayfield did set up two field goal tries.
He has 8-14 for 74 yards and Akers leads LA with 33 yard on six carries.
The Packers lead by four and have outgained the Rams 165-95.
Rodgers has 108 yards on 10-15 passing, but did throw that early interception.
DIllon has the only TD on the night on one of his 7 carries for 37 yards.
Rodgers ran for about 60 yards in the backfield and finally he was tripped up by Gaines to bring us to the end of the half.

Matt Gay drills the 55 yarder on this icy night in Green Bay and the Rams cut into the lead in the last minute of the half. There is still time for Rodgers to move the ball down the field and look for a quick score before half.
GB lead 10-6 with 46 seconds left in the half.
Mayfield was rushed out of the pocket and looked to anyone on the right side, but had to throw it out of bounds.

New star in LA
Baker Mayfield has had a rough last few years. He was chased out of Cleveland despite playing injured and taking them to the playoffs in 2020. He was traded to Carolina this offseason, and lasted a handful of weeks before being offloaded to to LA last week. In his debut he threw for 230 yards and a touchdown in his LA debut.
NFC Standings
The Rams chances for the playoffs ended long ago, but the Packers still have an outside chance to reach the post season despite their terrible start to the season. Somehow, at 5-8 their chances of reaching the playoffs are still alive but they have no margin for error. The Seahawks, Lions and Packers are all chasing the Commanders in the seventh seed in the NFC.

LA come into tonight riding a high after seeing Baker Mayfield come in under center and lead the Rams to an improbably comeback victory against the Raiders last week. Now the spotlight will shine even brighter on the Rams new QB, who has had a bit more time to prepare for this game tonight.
Pack back at Lambeau
It’s going to be a chilly one in Green Bay, but by now Aaron Rodgers and the Packers know how to handle the cold. Lambeau Field has alway been a fortress for the Pack, but this year the Cheeseheads are just 3-3 on their home turf, and are going to need a win tonight to keep their playoff dreams alive.
Baker's triumphant debut
Baker Mayfield stole the headlines in Week 14 with an incredible performance just two days after signing with the Los Angeles Rams. He didn’t get the start, but made his LA debut on the second series and looked like he had been a part of Sean McVay’s offense for years. He moved the ball well, but the scoring didn’t start until it was almost too late. Mayfield led two TD drives in the final minutes of the fourth quarter to sweep the win from under the feet of the Raiders and give LA fans a glimpse what could be to come in the future.
Packers coming off bye
Last week the Packers had a much needed bye week, but the week before Aaron Rodgers proved yet again that he owns the Bears and Chicago. Even with a sub par team that is under performing this year, he went into Soldier Field and carried the Pack to a 28-19 win on the road. Rodgers’ numbers weren’t fantastic, going 18/31 for 182 yards and a touchdown but he led a fourth quarter comeback over their division rivals in the Windy City.
