Mahomes explains to Kelce how the globe works ahead of Brazil trip
The Kansas City Chiefs kick off the 2025 NFL season in South America, but some players were a little confused about just how far Brazil is from Kansas City.

The Kansas City Chiefs will open up the 2025 season this Friday in hopes of making a comeback for the Lombardi Trophy after last year’s disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. The Chiefs’ season starts in South America this year as they take on the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil, marking one of the NFL’s most high-profile international games yet.

Travis Kelce becomes the butt of Mahomes’ joke before Brazil matchup
Before kickoff, Patrick Mahomes revealed he had to give teammate Travis Kelce a “geography lesson” about just how far the flight to Brazil really is.
Despite Kelce’s jet-setting lifestyle with fiancée Taylor Swift, Mahomes joked that his tight end still needed some help “understanding how the globe works.”
“The trainers and coaches have really done the research, and they understand what we need to do, so now it’s just going down there and playing football,” Mahomes explained. “I think more than anything it’s just explaining to some guys how far the trip was. Some guys didn’t understand how far the travel was. Travis, even though he was just down there last year, I was explaining to him how the globe works.”
Mahomes couldn’t miss a chance to troll Travis.

In case you’re wondering, the flight from Kansas City to São Paulo is around 11 hours. The lighthearted moment between Mahomes comes as Kansas City looks to rebound from last season’s Super Bowl disappointment while facing a rising Chargers team led by Justin Herbert.
