Marshawn Lynch retired from the NFL six years ago and now owns the Beasts of the Fan Controlled Football League and the Bay Area Panthers of the Indoor Football League. However, the former player has become news-worthy again for another reason.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Area Police Department(LVMPD) arrested Lynch Tuesday morning for driving under the influence of illegal substances.

The former NFL player’s vehicle was stopped by police at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and West Utah Avenue. During the course of the arresting officers’ investigation it was determined that Lynch was not fit to drive and was sent to the Las Vegas City Jail under file LLV220800034519.

According to TMZ Sports, Lynch declined to perform the preliminary breath test, but officers were able to take a blood sample for evaluation.

The Las Vegas Police released a statement confirming the incident, saying, “The LVMPD conducted a vehicle stop at Fairfield Avenue and West Utah Avenue (near Wyoming and Las Vegas BLVD) on a driver, later identified as Marshawn Lynch, for suspected driver impairment. Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that Lynch was impaired and conducted an arrest. Lynch was transported to the Las Vegas City Jail and booked for driving under the influence.”
