Update:

Matthew Stafford has been playing his best football this season, leading the Rams to an 11-4 record, which has guaranteed a Wild Card spot and gives Los Angeles a chance to win the NFC West depending on what happens in Week 18.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford, now 37, provides experience and a sense of calm in the Rams offense and he boasts a stellar postseason record. Stafford could still pick up a second Super Bowl triumph late in his career. As we have seen this year, being a veteran QB in the league is an asset to teams, not an obstacle.

Stafford and the Rams reached an agreement during the 2025 offseason, which gives the QB $44 million during the 2025 season and $84 over the next two seasons if he chooses to stay in LA.

How much longer will Stafford be with the Rams?

Stafford arrived in LA from the Detroit Lions in 2020 and found instant success, winning Super Bowl LVI the following season. He remains a top quarterback in terms of completion percentage and yards per game. 37 years old isn’t what it used to be and now in the NFL, with several quarterbacks in their 40s and the level that Stafford is playing at, he should be able to continue for a few more seasons.

Rams head coach Sean McVay is thrilled to have the veteran playcaller behind center: “I think he can play as long as he wants, but fortunately, I’m hoping it’s a couple more years. ... I think he came out of this season feeling really good physically.”
