Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill won’t be punished by the NFL but what did he do?
The Dolphins and their star WR can now rest a little easier after reports confirmed that the league will not punish him for his part in an altercation.
What seems to have been a potentially damaging situation for Miami’s prolific player has seemingly been resolved in an amicable way for all parties involved. The question now is can the team and its pass catcher move forward in a way that benefits them this coming season?
The NFL won’t punish the Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill
According to reports, Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is no longer facing potential punishment from the NFL. You may recall that Hill was involved in a physical altercation a little over two months ago. Indeed, back on June 18th, at a South Florida marina, the 29-year-old wide receiver apparently got into a fight with an employee of the marina during which he was accused of hitting the 57-year-old male. To be clear, video of the incident surfaced, however, Hill was never charged with any offense.
It is understood that Hill was later able to resolve the situation with the alleged victim last month. To that end, it’s easy to imagine that the league itself would have considered that factor before taking a final stance on what to do with Hill. It’s worth noting that at the time of resolution, both Hill and the Dolphins released a joint statement in which they indicated that “The parties to the incident...have resolved their differences.”
What did Tyreek Hill say about the situation?
Prior to this latest development, Hill was actually questioned at the start of training camp about the incident but remained relatively tight-lipped in terms of any insight, though he did state that he was cooperating with the NFL’s investigation. “I’m not here to get into that. I’m here to play ball,” Hill said at the time. “Like I understand your question totally, but the issue has been resolved and I’m currently [working], I’m currently cooperating with the NFL, giving them all the details on what happened on that day.” It goes without saying that the Dolphins are now sitting pretty with the knowledge that Hill won’t be sidelined - because of punishment - for any games of the upcoming regular season. Consider for a moment that Hill has been without a doubt one of the best wide receivers in the NFL across his seven-year career. Now in his second year in Miami, Hill is coming off a season in which he recorded 119 catches for 1,710 yards, numbers that ranked second only to the Vikings’ Justin Jefferson.
