Update:

The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading to the playoffs after their instant classic against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night. Mike Tomlin has been under plenty of pressure this year, but he handled his postgame presser like the legend that he is.

Pittsburgh on to playoffs

The Steelers and the Ravens ended their regular season with a win or go home game from Acrisure Stadium in the final games of the NFL campaign. It was a game that would decide the AFC North winner and the final spot in the playoffs and it was a classic.

After two and a half quarters of a defensive struggle in which neither team were able to produce too much in terms of offense both teams came to life for the final 20 minutes. Big plays, and questionable defense turned the AFC North slugfest into a fireworks display that few will soon forget.

There were four touchdowns scored in the final eight minutes of the fourth quarter as both teams looked to land knockout blows, one after the other. The Steelers took a two point lead in the final 50 seconds of the fourth quarter and then saw Tyler Loop miss a 44 yard field goal which would have ended the Steelers season.

Tomlin not interested in “ifs”

When asked about the kick, the longest tenured coach in the NFL didn’t hold back. He was asked a hypothetical question if the kick had gone through the uprights and the Ravens won the game, what did he think would have been the next step.

Tomlin, who has seen and heard everything over nearly two decades as the Steelers coach responded by saying, “You know how it is. If my aunt had male parts, she’d be my uncle.”

Some say Tomlin has been on the hot seat this year after the Steelers crashed out of the playoffs in the first round of last years playoffs to make it nine straight seasons without a playoff win. They will look to break that spell on the road against the Houston Texans next Monday night.
