History was made at Paul Brown Stadium on Monday evening as the Washington Commanders and the Cincinnati Bengals managed an extremely rare NFL feat.

The Commanders clinched an impressive 38-33 road victory in Monday Night Football, in a game that saw both QBs impress. Jayden Daniels threw 254 yards for two touchdowns, while the Bengals’ Joe Burrow managed 324 yards for three touchdowns.

Most incredibly, there were no turnovers and no punts from either teams. ESPN has confirmed that Bengals - Commanders was the first NFL game since 1940 with that distinction.

LSU graduates star on MNF

The Commanders - Bengals clash was one of the highest-scoring games of the 2024 season to date, featuring brilliant offensive performances from the two teams. The Commanders and the Bengals are both led by former LSU quarterbacks who won the Heisman Trophy during their college careers.

Daniels and Burrow both shone on Monday evening. Daniels, playing his first season in the league, finished with 21 of 23 completed passes, the highest completion percentage from a rookie on record. His first touchdown of the evening was also his first in the league, a major milestone for the No. 2 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft.

I think he grew up tonight,” Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin said after the game. “I’m so excited for him because now as a rookie, once you see those throws, you get more confidence. And I think his confidence is just going through the roof right now.”

Borrow, too, put in an assured performance on Monday and finished with 29 of 38 passes completed. However the Bengals’ defensive woes continues to hamper their progression under Burrow, slipping to 0-3 on the season. They travel to the Panthers on Sunday, desperate to get their 2024 campaign up and running.
