NBA All-Star Game live online: stats, score and highlights | All-Star 2024 Indy
Team East wrapped up the NBA’s All-Star Weekend with a historic win over Team West on Sunday night in Indianapolis. Damian Lillard was named MVP after dropping 39 points and 11 threes in the 211-186 win from Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
No D in Indy
Despite the urging on of NBA legends like Shaquille O’Neal and Indiana legend Larry Bird, there was no defense played in this year’s edition of the All-Star Game. Was it fun? Sure. Was it entertaining? Kind of. Was it competitive? Absolutely not.
The league went back to the conventional structure of the ASG which features two teams representing each conference instead of the two highest vote getters picking their teams. While the structure was different, the highest vote getters were not. Giannis Antetokounmpo led all players with about 100,000 more votes than LeBron James who received just over two million votes.
James took part in his 20th consecutive All-Star Game, and even though he didn’t even play a quarter of an hour, he still had time to throw down a couple spectacular dunks.
Dame’s busy weekend
The night belonged to the hometown kid Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Liliard. The Pacers PG started the game hitting five straight threes and had 15 points in the first four minutes of the game as the Indiana crowd went wild seeing their star on the national stage for the first time this year. Haliburton dazzled with 32 points, but it was Lilllard who took home the hardware with a 39 point night in which he hit 11 threes.
Before the game was done Team East put up 200 points, which had never been done in an All-Star Game before, indicating the level of defense that was played. After the game Lillard was named ASG MVP, which was greeted by a chorus of boos by the Haliburton biased home crowd.
Karl-Anthony Towns was actually the high scorer on the night, scoring 50 points, coming up two points short of the all time All-Star record set by Anthony Davis in 2017.
Liillard had a busy weekend and is going home with a suitcase full of hardware after winning his second straight Three Point Contest on Saturday and the MVP of the All-Star Game on Sunday.
Listen closely to the boos that rung around Gainbridge Fieldhouse as Damian Lillard was named as the MVP and not Tyrese Haliburton. The crowd in Indiana knows basketball, and know their guy had a night 32 points hitting 10/14 threes.

The East hit the 200 mark and Dame drilled the final three ball to wrap up the MVP with a team high 39 points off 11 threes. He had a busy weekend. He won the Three Point Contest for the second straight year and brought home the MVP of the All-Star Game.

Maybe the most entertaining part of the night was the ALTCAST featuring Charles Barkley and Draymond Green who really carried the show in the down time of a game that didn't always demand the upmost attention.
Cargando...
The East had the lead for all four quarter, but it was Karl-Anthony Towns who had the top scoring night, dropping 50 which is just two off of Anthony Davis' record of 52 set back in 2017.

Haliburton dazzled the home crowd as he usually does in his home games in Indy, but one of the best things about tonight was the fact that the rest of the country got to see just what a good player Tyrese is. He can shoot the lights out, but don't forget that his game is centered around creating. He's the top assist man in the league at almost 12 a game.

Dame hit a couple of these half courters in what turned out to be a historic night from the cradle of basketball. Despite the pleads of guys like Shaq and Larry Bird, there was no defense played, and the East would become the first team to score 200 points in an All-Star Game, and I'm assuming any official basketball game.

All Dame needs is a little space, and on Sunday in Indy he had more than enough time and space to light up the scoreboard. It was a two man show between him and Haliburton all night long.

Joker is famous for a few things. Winning an NBA title, being one of the best big men ever, being named MVP of the league twice, but he's not known for his dunking. On this break away he cocked it back and laid it up and in like someone in your local rec league.
Cargando...
LeBron played in his 20th All-Star Game of his career, and threw down a dunk the we have been seeing him do on repeat for the last two decades. He's still got the hops. He's still got the extension. And he's still got the style that he did when twenty years ago.

The hometown kid got the night started off with a bang, hitting five straight threes. He was in the running for MVP all night, and had the backing of the fans at Gainbridge Field House.

Lillard was just named MVP and he received the trophy to a chorus of boos from this Indy crowd who were hoping to see Haliburton win the award.
Dame ends it with another pull up from mid court! Got to think he's going to b the MVP of the night, but we will wait and see.
Dame with a final three ball and that might be enough for the MVP award although KAT has 50 on the other end.
Tyrese puts the East to the 200 mark and they are the first team to score 200 in an All-Star Game.
Never mind. KAT has 40 points. There has been nothing under the radar about his preformance. You can see him playing at a highly competitive rate, and if you do that it's easy to score a lot of points in a game like that.
KAT is having an under the radar game. The headliners are on th East team but KAT has had a couple threes, and some big time jams.
200 is in range. The East has 12 points to go with 5:00 to go.
The game has kind of taken a back seat as the East continues to dominate, but Chuck and Draymond are having a fascinating conversation about how young players need to conserve their money and the importance of a veteran in the locker rooms for guys like Ja Mornant.
Trae Young with a three ball to end the third quarter and the East has a real crack at 200 tonight!
WE ARE HEADED TO THE FOURTH QUARTER WITH THE EAST UP 24.
SGA started off the third quarter with a couple of flashy plays. Its' a 12 point game. This could get tight going into the final quarter.

Booker pull up from the range and banks it off the glass. It might be the ASG, but we haven't forgot about the fundamentals.
Scottie Barnes with back to back buckets. He's enjoying his first All Star Game as a replacement on Team East.
Dame has 33 points halfway through the third quarter. He's got Anthony Davis' All-Star Game record of 52 points in the 2017 edition of the ASG.
Cargando...
Not to be out done, Dame pulls up from the half court line and drills it! He's got 33 points already!
Dame dishes out to Haliburton and he drills another three ball! Good to see some unselfish basketball from Dame who understands that Haliburton is on his home court, and shining in front of his home fans.
We've got more FTs! Giannis is at the line and the guys on Team West were counting down Giannis' FT count! Good stuff there, poking fun at the two time MVP.
Haliburton drills a three ball and he's over 20 on the night! The MVP race is heating up between him and Lillard.
WE ARE BACK IN ACTION FOR THE SECOND HALF OF ACTION!
SGA gets the second half started with a three ball, and look for the game to get a bit more competitive in the final 24 minutes.
Two decades ago, LeBron made his first appearance in the ASG. Today he still got the hops and might even have more extension on his dunk in the first half this game than he did when he was a young buck.
Cargando...
Right now we've got a two man race between Dame Lillard and Tyrese Haliburton for the MVP of the night. If it comes down to it, will we hear the home crowd booing Lillard late in the game? We heard people booing Jaylen Brown last night in the dunk contest. Remember, this a state, a city and a crowd that loves their basketball, and they defend their team and it's players to the death.
Cargando...
Joker dunks about three times a season, so why waste one of those at the All Star Game? He cocked it back like he was throwing it down, but laid it up and got a laugh out of Steph Curry.

WE ARE HEADED TO HALFTIME!
We are at halftime here from Indianapolis, and it's time for Jennifer Hudson to take the stage and rock the house here at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Jokic with a steal and he takes it all the way to the rack, cocked it back.. and laid it in. He and Doncic are shoe ins every year in the ASG, but they put in more of an effort waking up and brushing their teeth than they do in these games.
Haliburton is back on the court and lighting it up from DT again. He's got 18 poins!
Trae Young bounced the ball between KDs legs, but probably could have ran through KD's legs as well.
Cargando...
Lillard is starting to heat up! He's got 6 threes already and he's got 22 already.
Who said there was going to be no defense tonight? And it came from Steph Curry of all people! Sure the East has 86 points with more than 4:00 to go in the first half but at least we have evidence of defense.
Cargando...
in the history of the NBA, no defense and all, there has never been a game that has seen 200 points. Is this the year? The East has 80 with 6:00 to go in the second quarter.
KAT with a jump hop to the paint and he tomahawks it down with authority.
George with a post up on Trae and he gets the bucket and one! There's another foul. That makes two in this first half.
Maxey with a pull up and he's in double digits now. This is a perfect game for the speedy Sixers guard. He's a darkhorse for MVP tonight.
Banchero goes coast to coast and finishes with a flush in his first ASG in just his second year in the league.
Maxey ends the first quarter with a three ball.
It was a high scoring, high flying first quarter dominated by the hometown kid Tyrese Haliburton who had 15 points in the first four minutes of the game!
Curry with a block on Banchero, and Booker threw a hail mary pass for Edwards with a jam!
We have got our first free throws of the game. Maxey going to the line and hits two, and while that might not be too exciting of an update, that shows there is a little bit of defense being played.
LeBron knows what on the line tonight. He's got a chance to join Kobe Bryant and Bob Petit as the only players to win four All-Star Game MVPs. Don't think for a second that has slipped his mind tonight as he aims for another career milestone that would only strengthen his GOAT argument.
Cargando...
Curry with a couple of three ball in this first quarter, and let's not forget his historic performance a couple of ASGs ago when he hit 16 threes.
Aside from the game, which has been great so far I am watching the AltCast on TNT with Chuck and Draymond Green and it's pretty interesting to hear a current player talking about topics like why Giannis isn't blamed more for the Bucks struggles. He's never one to back down from controversy, and he's not doing it tonight.
LeBron is playing his 20th All-Star game like it's his first. The All-Time leading scorer in the NBA is bringing it like he has every night.

Haliburton with a behind the back pass to Giannis who throws it down.
World... Meet Tyrese Haliburton. The Indiana Pacers star hit five quick threes including this one from the logo to score 15 of the 20 first points for Team East.

Half speed cut to the bucket from Jokic for a lay up as Jokic runs down the court complaining to the officical Tony Brothers.
FIVE IN A ROW FOR HALIBURTON!!!! HE'S PUTTING ON A SHOW FOR THE INDIANA FANS IN THE CROWD!
Three in a row for Haliburton and he's in double digits three minutes into this game.
Haliburton with back to back threes and look at the hometown kid with 9 quick points out of the gate!
Giannis with a spin ad a finger roll at the rack, and we can never question his effort even in the All-Star game.
LeBron driving right down main street and throws it down in his 20th All Star game.
Tatum starts the scoring off with a three ball in the corner off the dish from Giannis, while SGA answers back with a three ball for the West.
WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM INDIANAPOLIS!!!
The stars are out
The teams are being introduced here in Indiana, and while the East and West teams are being announced TNT showed us who is in the arena to watch the NBA's gala event. Chris Tucker, 50 Cent, Bill Murray, Mike Epps, Larry Bird and Russell Wilson among many other.
No D in Indy?
Larry Bird, and Shaq are among the many that are asking, or begging for a bit more defense in tonight's All-Star Game. In the last few years the level competition has dipped drastically. It's not Game 7 of the Finals, we know that and we don't want anyone getting injured, but a if these guys played a little more defense it would make it much more of a spectacle.
Having said that, I've done enough of these All-Star Games to understand it's impossible to keep up with the scoring, no matter how much defense is going to be played tonight I won't be able to update this game bucket by bucket but I will provide plenty of updates to keep you covered on all the action and highlights tonight from Indy.
What happened last night
Last night we had the appetizer to tonight’s main course. Last night we have the Skills Challenge, Dunk Contest and Three Point Contest. The main event was a Battle of the Sexes between Steph Curry and Sabrina Ionescu. Ionescu put up 26 in her one and only round, which was tied for the high in the first round of the NBA’s Three Point Contest, and tied Damian Lillard’s final round score of 26 which was enough to win his second straight contest. Mac McClung won his second straight Dunk Contest in an event that was predictably diluted. Team Pacers won the Skills Challenge in an OT session of half court shots that gave the host team the title for a third straight year.
No Embiid, no Randall
Although tonight’s game is stacked full of stars, there will be a couple of that will be missing. The biggest name that will be absent tonight is Joel Embiid who suffered a knee injury a couple of weeks ago and he is due to miss another two weeks, at least although in Philly they are fearful their big man is going to miss the rest of the season. The former MVP and league’s leading scorer will be joined by Julius Randle who has been dealing with a shoulder injury since January that is going to keep him out of tonight’s game and for the next couple of weeks.

LeBron leading Team West
LeBron James might be 39 year old, but he is still one of the best player in the league, and one of the most popular. He was named the Eastern Conference captain after earning over 2,000,000 votes to make his 20th appearance in the All-Star Game. He is averaging 24.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.8 assists a game but his Lakers have struggled to this point in the season. They are currently in 9th in the West and 3.5 games behind the Pelicans who have the final automatic playoff spot as the 6th seed in the conference. LeBron and company will be trying to make up that difference over the final stretch of the season, but tonight it’s time for the NBA’s All Time Leading scorer to have some fun.

Giannis top vote getter
Giannis Antetokounmpo was the most voted player in this year’s All-Star game with 2,171,812 votes to earn him the captaincy in the Eastern Conference and top the Wests’ LeBron James for the most voted player. The two-time NBA MVP is averaging 30.8 points, 11.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists with the Bucks this season. He and the rest of the Bucks have been on a bit of a slide recently, but Giannis knows what it’s like to win a title in Milwaukee. Tonight he can have a bit of fun, but on the other end of the All-Star Break he, Damian Liillard and Doc Rivers are going to have to figure out a away to right the ship after a rocky start to the Rivers era in Fiserv Forum.
Cargando...
There weren't many players more competitive than Larry Legend. The former Indiana State, and Boston Celtics star never took a night off, not even in the All-Star game. Now that the game in on his home turf, he has taken the opportunity to challenge the league's best players to bring it tonight.
LeBron James is the NBA's All-Time Leading scorer, and at 39 years old continues to make history. He is playing in his 20th All-Star and should he win the MVP tonight, that would put him at a tie with Bob Petit and Kobe Bryant as the only players to have ever won four All-Star Game MVP awards.
Team East
The Eastern Conference will be coached by Doc Rivers who just took over the Milwaukee Bucks, and honestly hasn’t earned the right to coach this team just yet. Despite his protests or insistence on having someone else coach the team, here he is in Indy with a dream squad of stars. Here is the Eastern Conference team for tonight’s All-Star Game.
Starters:
Giannis Antetokoumnpo (Bucks)
Bam Adebayo (Heat)
Tyrese Haliburton (Pacers)
Damian Lillard (Bucks)

Scottie Barnes (Raptors)
Jaylen Brown (Celtics)
Jalen Brunson (Knicks)

Trae Young (Hawks)

Team West
The Western Conference will be coached by Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch who has led his team to the best record in the West up until this point of the season. He will have a stacked squad tonight in Indy as the West tries to top take the ASG title back from the East after last year’s win. Here is the Western Conference Squad for tonight:
Starters:
LeBron James (Lakers)
Luka Doncic (Mavericks)
Kevin Durant (Suns)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder)
Nikola Jokic (Nuggets)
