Neither the Giants or the Steelers, here’s where Aaron Rodgers wants to go: “He has to make a decision”
The four-time NFL NVP is still a free agent and former Raiders GM Mike Mayock has revealed where he thinks Rodgers is heading.

The future of Aaron Rodgers has been the defining storyline of NFL free agency so far and the veteran quarterback appear no closer to a deal. The four-time NFL MVP left the New York Jets at the start of free agency and he’s eager for one last crack at the postseason.
Rodgers, now 41, is one of the most talented quarterbacks of recent decades but his advancing age and a serious Achilles injury that kept him sidelined for 2023 make him a risky option. It has been widely reported that the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers are both in for Rodgers but he’s holding out on a decision.
Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday, former Raiders GM Mike Mayock revealed where he thinks is Rodger’s No. 1 choice for 2025.
“If I’m Aaron Rodgers and I look at Pittsburgh I go, ‘OK that’s second best‘. I’d much rather be in Minnesota, where they just won 14 games and they’ve got all kinds of offensive firepower,” he explained. “Pittsburgh is second-best, but not really sexy to me. And the Giants? No way in hell!”
When will Aaron Rodgers decide?
With solid interest from both the Steelers and the Giants, Mayock admitted that he would be growing frustrated with Rodgers' lack of movement if he were in an NFL front office. Mayock told Eisen that, if it was his team, Rodger’s delay would be making him reconsider a move.
He explained: “I’m like an old school guy. Just stop your BS, you’re either in or you’re out, let’s go.”
“However the nuance is that you really want this guy because you think he can help you win football games. Bottom line. However only one of the three teams are gonna get him... But if they’re trying to sign Aaron Rodgers, they’ll have to pay him starter money. Because Aaron’s a smart guy, he’s not going to come in there and say ‘Hey, just pay me a few million.’”
For now, Rodgers is yet to make a decision and at least three teams are still hanging in limbo. At this point, it looks like the Giants and the Steelers are willing to wait out Rodgers and hope that no other interest emerges. The only real deadline for the situation will be the 2025 NFL Draft on April 24, by which point teams will want to have a set idea of their rosters and know which are the priority areas to strengthen.
