Just days before the start of a new league year in the NFL, the New England Patriots have reportedly informed Stefon Diggs of their intention to release the wide receiver.

According to reporting from Tom Pelissero, Diggs had an additional $6 million in guarantees set to vest this Friday, prompting the Patriots to move swiftly and confirm the 32-year-old’s departure.

During the regular season, Diggs was targeted 85 times by quarterback Drake Maye, finishing with 1,013 receiving yards and four touchdown catches. In the postseason, Diggs hauled in 14 passes from Maye for 110 yards and one touchdown.

Now seeking his fifth NFL team

Diggs’ release by New England - where he finished as an NFL runner‑up following the Patriots’ Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks - means he will now be in search of his fifth NFL destination.

The veteran WR previously played for the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, and Atlanta Falcons before signing with the Patriots.
