New York Giants 12 vs 30 San Francisco 49ers summary, stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 3
The San Francisco 49ers continued to roll through the competition in their home debut against the New York Giants. Brock Purdy threw for over 300 yards as the Niners cruised to a 30-12 victory from Levi Stadium on Thursday night.
Saquon sidelined
It was always going to be tough for New York who had their second straight game on the west coast, and on a short week. Not to mention their star running back Saquon Barkley was sidelined after suffering an ankle injury last week.
The Niners however, have been nothing short of dominant in the opening weeks of the season, and Thursday night was no different. Both teams exchanged field goals to start the game, but after that the Niners took control on both sides of the ball.
New York gained 49 yards on their first drive before kicking an early field goal but went to half with 88 yards of total offense. In that time, the Niners scored two touchdowns, the first one was brought down by Ronnie Bell who was filling in for an injured Brandon Aiyuk. The 9 yard pitch and catch put San Fran up 10-3 midway through the second quarter.
CMC and Deebo seal the deal
The home team would stretch their lead out even more right before the half when Christian McCaffery punched in a 4 yard TD run to stretch the lead to 17-3 while stretching his TD streak to 12 straight game which tied Jerry Rice’s Niners franchise record.
The Giants would close the gap in the third quarter with a Matt Breida TD run from 8 yards out but that would be the last time New York would get close to the end zone.
Purdy ended the game with a well deserved TD pass to Deebo Samuel to close the door on the Giants and secure their third win in as many tries. Samuel ended the night with 129 yards on 6 catches, and Purdy completed 25/37 passes for 310 yards and two TDs.
Deebo Samuel gave the Giants defense fits all night long. He had 6 catches for 129 yards, many of those yards after first contact, and ended his night with this 27 yard catch from a perfect ball from Purdy.
Purdy ended the game 25/37 for 310 yards and two TDs.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM LEVI STADIUM!!!
The Niners get the ball to start the game and here comes Brock Purdy and the offense beginning their night from the 25.
ODDS
We have a monster spread coming into tonight’s game, as the Niners are 10.5 point favorites over the New York Giants and the Over/Under is set at 43.5.
With Saquon Barkley out, the Giants come into tonight as obvious underdogs. It’s their second trip out west in back to back weeks, and not to mention a short week. San Fran has looked like one of the best teams in the league, and I don’t think that will change tonight. I’m taking the Niners in a blow out from Levi Stadium.
Rare off day for Purdy vs. LA
Brock Purdy has been nearly perfect since he debut in the early part of last season. He has made the right plays, the right decisions and said the right things since became a sensation just months after being taken with the final pick of the draft two years ago. Last week against the Rams, he looked average, if not below average. He missed a few open passes that could have changed the game around and not make the Niners have to sweat to top their division opponents. Tonight he will get a chance at redemption under the lights in Levi Stadium on Monday Night Football.

Aiyuk out tonight
It’s not as big of a loss as Barkley is for the Giants, but Brock Purdy’s favorite target to start the season has been Brando Aiyuk. Aiyuk got knocked around in the Rams game last week and will miss tonight’s game with an injured shoulder. He had 8 catches for 129 yards and two TDs in the opener and three catches last week for 43 yards. The Niners have a deep arsenal of weapons to choose from, but losing Aiyuk could hurt them especially on third down.

Saquon out, but not for long
The Giants avoided disaster on Sunday in the desert after seeing Saquon Barkley go down what looked like a nasty injury. He went off the field with the assistance of two team doctors and slammed his helmet down in frustration furthering speculation that the ankle injury might have been serious, if not season ending. MRIs showed that the NY RB suffered an ankle sprain but nothing else, and a deep sigh of relief was heard all around New York. Remember, Saquon is on a contract year after the Giants declined to give their star rusher a long term contract. The good news for him and the Giants is, it seems as though he will be back before too long helping the Giants in their playoff chase and aiding his case for a long term deal in New York or elsewhere.

Jones putting rough start in rear view
Daniel Jones got his big money contract this offseason, and that automatically comes with expectations in New York. The first game of the season sounded alarms through the Big Apple after Jones went 15/28 for 104 yards and two picks, but he bounced back against the Cardinals, especially in the second half going 26/37 on the game and throwing for 321 yards and two TDs.

Niners make home debut tonight
Run CMC has been one of the best players in the league through two weeks. He blew up against the Steelers in the season opener, going for 152 yards a TD oh and a TD pass against the Steelers, and is averaging 134 yards a game coming into tonight. The Niners will certainly have a couple tricks up their sleeves for a primetime game going up against a team that has already shown they have some weaknesses to exploit.

Giants last week

Graham Gano hit the go ahead field goal with 19 seconds to take a 31-28 lead to secure their first win of the season.

Niners last week

The Rams were driving into SF territory but a bobble pass from Kyren Williams fell into the hands of Isiah Oliver and the Niners. San Fran kicked a field goal, forced LA into a three and out and scored a TD on the next three possessions.
