Heads have already rolled in the Big Apple after the New York Jets’ dreadful first 11 weeks of the season. The latest to get the axe in New York general Manager Joe Douglas who was let go following the Jets latest loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Douglas gone after five years

Adam Schefter reported that the Jets owner Woody Johnson parted ways with the general manager on Tuesday not even two months after former coach Robert Saleh was fired following a 2-3 start to the season.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich took over after the firing and the Jets have won just one of their six games with the interim coach. Their last loss was the final straw for the GM Douglas, who had been with the Jets since 2019.

Douglas started his executive career back in 2000 where he was a scout for the Ravens until 2014. After a year with the Chicago Bears he was hired by Philadelphia Eagles as there VP of play personnel. The Jets offered him the GM job in 2019, but since then they have never won more than 7 games in a season and have gone through three coaches and countless other quarterbacks.

Hasn’t gone according to plan

The QB issues were supposed to have been resolved with the signing of Aaron Rodgers, but it’s been a disaster stint in New York for the four-time MVP. Last year Rodgers played just three snaps before tearing his achilles and missing the rest of the season.

After much anticipation, Rodgers returned under center but the Jets have flopped, and have a worse record this year than they had last year with a QB carrousel that made Jets fans dizzy.

The Jets are in the midst of a BYE week, and are going to have to figure out what the direction of this franchise is quickly. They are going to need a new GM, a new head coach and perhaps a new QB if the instability persists on the green side of New York.
