NFL a nuisance to Spanish soccer league’s plan for Miami matchup
Barcelona and Villarreal could play a LaLiga game in Florida later this year - but an apparent scheduling conflict may have to be resolved.

Soccer clubs Barcelona and Villarreal could play a Spanish LaLiga game at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on December 20 - although the city’s NFL team may throw a wrench into the plan, at least for that date.
Why could Dec. 20 be a problem?
The Miami Dolphins, led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, are already scheduled to play a regular-season NFL game at the same venue just one day later. Miami, looking to bounce back after missing the playoffs last season largely due to Tagovailoa’s health issues, will host Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Despite the scheduling conflict, there’s still a chance the soccer match could go ahead. The Dolphins’ game is slated for an evening kick-off, which could allow enough time to reconfigure the field between events.
LaLiga plan still in the works
While the Barcelona vs Villarreal clash hasn’t been officially confirmed for December 20, LaLiga’s proposal has received the green light from the Spanish Soccer Federation following a tense meeting.
Hard Rock Stadium has proven itself as a capable host for major soccer events. During this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, it drew over 60,000 fans for Real Madrid’s showdown with Al Hilal and saw another strong turnout for Los Blancos’ last-16 match against Juventus.
