NFL announces host city for Super Bowl LXII in 2028
The current NFL season will conclude with in New Orleans with Super Bowl LIX in February 2025.
The 2027 NFL season will conclude with Super Bowl LXII, held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia in February 2028.
The new was announced by the NFL on Tuesday as the league continues a series of meeting in Atlanta. This will be the fourth time that the Georgia capital will host the Super Bowl, but only the second time that it has been hosted at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The three previous Atlanta Super Bowls were held at the Georgia Dome in 1994 (Cowboys) and 2000 (Rams) and at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2019 (Patriots).
“This is a tremendous honor for the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia to be selected as host for Super Bowl LXII,” Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur M. Blank said in a statement released on Tuesday. “Thank you to my fellow owners for their trust in awarding Atlanta this opportunity, and thank you to Commissioner Goodell, Peter O’Reilly and the entire league for their continued leadership in making the NFL the greatest sports league in the world.”
Atlanta will follow New Orleans, Santa Clara and Los Angeles in the list of Super Bowl host cities.
Which cities have hosted the Super Bowl the most times?
Atlanta will assume Super Bowl hosting duties for the fourth time in 2028 when Super Bowl LXII comes to town. That puts them among the cities with the most Super Bowls, but they are still some way short of the leaders.
“Renowned for its hospitality and rich sports and entertainment culture, Atlanta is a world-class event destination and a natural fit for Super Bowl 62,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in announcing the sight of Super Bowl LXII.
“Arthur Blank has been a transformative figure in the Atlanta community, playing a crucial role in leading the bid to bring the Super Bowl back to the city. I have been fortunate to witness firsthand how Arthur continues to drive community engagement and economic development in the Atlanta community through his unwavering commitment to sports and philanthropy.”
