NFL Draft 2025 order: Which team has the No. 1 pick?

The Patriots, Giants, Titans and Browns were all in contention heading into the Week 18 action.

Tennessee Titans snatch No. 1 Draft pick for 2025
JUSTIN FORDAFP

There were only two playoff places up for grabs in the final weekend of regular season action, but that wasn’t all that was at stake for NFL teams in Week 18. The Tennessee Titans clinched the No. 1 pick at the 2025 NFL Draft as they fell to a 14th defeat of the season on Sunday.

The Titans' home loss to the Houston Texans ensured that they could not be supplanted from the No. 1 position. Earlier in the day the New England Patriots had secured a shock victory over the Buffalo Bills, removing them from the top spot.

Heading into the weekend the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants were also in contention. However Tennessee cannot be overtaken by either team, owing to their strength-of-schedule tiebreaker. Here’s a look at the confirmed top five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft...

Confirmed NFL Draft 2025 order

  1. Tennessee Titans
  2. Cleveland Browns
  3. New York Giants
  4. New England Patriots
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars

This is the first time that either Houston or Tennessee have drafted No. 1 overall since the 1978 NFL Draft. The Houston Oilers took running back Earl Campbell, who went on to be crowned NFL Most Valuable Player the following season. The Oilers were moved to Tennessee in 1997 and were renamed the Titans two years later.

Patriots slip to fourth after shock victory

The team with the worst record across the 2024 regular season will be given first access to the cream of the college crop. With one round of games to go it looked like the New England Patriots were in pole position after a 40-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend.

That result saw them overtake the New York Giants but the Patriots romped to a surprise 23-16 win over the Bills, who top the AFC East. The Bills made changes for the game and may have inadvertently screwed the Patriots' 2025 planning.

That victory sees the Patriots drop from No. 1 to No. 4 in the NFL Draft order, limiting how effective their front office can be over the offseason. For a team still struggling to regroup after the departure of head coach and de fact general manager Bill Belichick, a No. 1 draft pick would have helped to add some momentum ahead of the 2025 season.
