NFL Fantasy Football: Notable injuries to keep an eye on
As the NFL preseason gets going, the Fantasy Football drafts are nigh. Here are some key injuries to monitor as the regular season approaches.

The NFL preseason is in full swing and we’re now just under a month away from the regular season. That means it’s time to start thinking about which players you want on your Fantasy team this year. And training camp and the preseason is a crucial time to monitor the players.
Already we’ve seen some significant players suffer from injuries, but some are more serious than others. Here are some of the key players you should keep an eye on ahead of your 2025 Fantasy draft.
Key injuries to note ahead of NFL 2025 Fantasy Football
Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back)
There’s no need to rule out Stafford just yet, but he’ll need some monitoring after missing the first few weeks of training camp with a back issue. The 37-year-old has dealt with similar injuries in the past, so it’s concerning, but he is on track to return to practice soon so that should give us more information on his status as the season gets closer. Still, make sure to keep an eye on his backup, Jimmy Garoppolo, as well.

49ers WR Jauan Jennings (calf)
Supposedly, Jennings is dealing with a calf injury. He hasn’t practiced in nearly two weeks and has no return date in sight. However, he’s also expressed his desire for a new contract and it’s unclear whether his absence may be related to that as well. His fellow receiver Brandon Aiyuk is still recovering from an ACL injury and is unlikely to be ready by Week 1 of the regular season, so if Jennings does recover by then, he’d be the WR1 in San Francisco, so it’s definitely worth monitoring his situation.
Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring)
Jefferson is expected to be ready by Week 1 of the regular season, but a hamstring injury is concerning considering that’s what kept him sidelined throughout much of the 2023 NFL season - albeit the other leg. He’s been out the majority of training camp and the Vikings will likely take their time easing him back in. But hamstring injuries are no joke, so though he may be one of the best receivers in the league, his situation will require careful monitoring.
Sounds like Justin Jefferson is on track to return in 1-2 weeks.

Mind you this hamstring injury, likely a mild grade 1, is to the OPPOSITE leg as the grade 2 moderate strain from 2023.

Bills WR Khalil Shakir (ankle)
Shakir suffered a high-ankle sprain and is currently listed as week-to-week. One of Josh Allen’s top targets may not be ready by Week 1, and potentially looking at landing on the Injured Reserve list to start the season.
