Mahomes was not present to accept the award as he prepares to play in Super Bowl LVII this Sunday, his third Super Bowl appearance in four years. Though quarterbacks Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen were all in the running, Mahomes won it by a landslide. He was given 48 out of 50 first-place votes for a total of 490 points. His Super Bowl opponent, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts took second place with 193 points.

“To the Chiefs organization, Clark Hunt, Brett Veach, Andy Reid, the staff and most of all, my team-mates, I would never be standing here today without y’all. Every day, giving everything that we have together to go for the ultimate goal, the Super Bowl. Let’s continue to go for that dream this weekend.
