Lamar Jackson headlined a star studded night in Las Vegas, winning his second MVP just a few weeks after turning 27. The Houston Texans and the Cleveland Browns were the big winners with five awards being awarded between the two teams.

Jackson wins MVP No. 2

The Ravens quarterback signed a new record breaking deal last offseason and made sure he thanked the organization for “finally” getting the deal done. He may not have led his team to the Super Bowl, be he had a fantastic season, throwing for 3,678 yards and 24 TDs and running for 821 yards and 5 TDs on the ground. When asked if he’ll watch the big game Sunday the newly crowned MVP said, he wouldn’t because the wound is “too fresh.”

Houston made their impact in the season ending ceremony with their two rookies CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. who took home the double Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year. Their coach DeMeco Ryan was nominated for Coach of the Year after his first year in Houston, but that honor was awarded to Cleveland’s Kevin Stefanski who lost his starting running back and ended up leading his team to the playoffs with their 39 year old, fourth option quarterback Joe Flacco.

Browns clean up NFL Honors

Flacco was named the Comeback Player of the Year after joining the Browns in the second half of the season and earning a Wild Card spot in the AFC. The Browns night wasn’t done though. Myles Garrett was named the Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring the Browns top ranked defense all season.

On the other side of the ball Christian McCaffery won the Offensive Player of the Year, and was in the building to except his award as he put Super Bowl preparations to the side for a few hours.

The celebrations and the partying can now begin in Las Vegas and I’m guessing they won’t stop until sometime well after a champion is crowned on Super Bowl Sunday.

For the second time in his young career Lamar Jackson is the MVP of the NFL. He got a record breaking deal last offseason and he delivered the goods this year. He passed for 3,678 yards, threw 24 TDs and just 7 INTs, while rushing for another 821 yards a five TDs on the ground.

It's time to give out the NFL MVP award:

And the winner is: Lamar Jackson!

Don't think there's much of a surprise with that decision. He was in the running all year, and crushed Purdy, McCaffery and the Niners at the end of the season to seal his second MVP.

Next up is the Comeback Player of the Year award:

And the winner is: Joe Flacco

Hamlin was probably the favorite after all he had been through, but give it up to Flacco who joined his team midseason and took them to the playoffs.

Stefanski wasn't in attendance tonight, but who can blame him? He saw his starting running back and his first three QBs go down with injuries and still led them to the playoffs. He deserves a bit of R&R hopefully somewhere warmer than Cleveland.

How about Tom Grossi for Fan of the Year. Really anyone who is a Packers fan and has to go to the Frozen Tundra and sit through four quarters deserves this award.

After a short magic trick from Penn and Teller it's time for the Offensive Player of the Year:

And the winner is: Christian McCaffery!

He is in the theater accepting the award which is a little surprising. What's not surprising is that he wins this which means that Lamar Jackson is a shoe in for the MVP.

Check out this moment from the two Rookies of the Year! These guys were as pumped for each other as they were to win the award themselves. DeMeco Ryans lost out on the Coach of the Year award, but he will much happier seeing his guys get the credit on the NFL's most glamorous night.

Little surprised to see Bland all the way down at the bottom of the list after making NFL history. Garrett had a great season, and was the anchor of a defense that was one of the best units in the game. The Browns are going to be a good team with that core on defense. If they can keep Deshaun Watson healthy they will be looking for more than just a playoff appearance next season.

And the winner is: Myles Garrett

This was named the NFL Moment of the Year according to NextGen Stats. Not sure if it's my favorite, but that doesn't take away from the incredible season Ceedee had.

And the winner is: Ceedee Lamb and his hear 100 yard TD reception against the Lions.

The first award of the night is the Offensive Rookie of the Year:

And the winner is: CJ Stroud!!!

It's no surprise the Texans QB was named the OROY. He had a season unlike any that we have seen before from a rookie quarterback before. The Texans are going to be a great team for a long time with him under center.

Keegan-Michael Peele is in the midst of his monologue and he is giving the business all around the league but especially Jerry Jones who he essentially called 123 years old.

He also talked about Taylor Swift being in Tokyo, and said the only people further from the Super Bowl are the Carolina Panthers.

It is Vegas, so while Cirque, D'Solie finishes up their opening number lets have a look at Maxx Crosby came posting up to the Theater. This is home city and he is feeling right at home as he is nominated for Defensive Player of the Year.

Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates

This one might be more tricky than we think. Sure, CJ Stoud had maybe the best rookie season of any QB we have ever seen, but Puka Nacua broke rookie receiving records, and Sam LaPorta fit like a glove in the Lions run to the NFC Championship while Bijan Robinson electrified Atlanta with his shifty moves.

Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions running back

Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons running back

C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans quarterback

Defensive Player of the Year candidates

We've got a bunch of dogs on the nominee sheet for DPOY. Bland set a pick six record that is unlikely to be broken for a long while, while Crosby, Garrett, Parsons and Watt terrorized opposing O lines and QBs all season long.

DaRon Bland, Dallas Cowboys cornerback

Maxx Crosby, Las Vegas Raiders defensive end

Myles Garrett, Cleveland Browns defensive end

Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowboys linebacker

T.J. Watt, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR CANDIDATES:

Who will be named the best offensive player of the year? It never usually goes to the MVP so we can count Lamar out, most likely. Tyreek had a near record breaking year at WR, Dak Prescott and Ceedee Lamb lit up opposing defenses on the Cowboys top scoring offense. Chrsitian McCaffery had over 2,000 total yards and has led his team to the Super Bowl. This would be a nice appetizer for the Niners running back.

Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins wide receiver

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens quarterback

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver

Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers running back

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys quarterback

Comeback Player of the Year

Don't call it a comeback. Or do. No one loves a triumph story like the NFL. Damar Hamlin is miraculously back on the field after nearly dying in a game last year. Joe Flacco got up off his couch and led the Browns to the playoffs. Baker Mayfield got his new start in Tampa Bay after being written off and Matthew Stafford and Tua Tagovailoa had incredible seasons after an injury filled last year.

Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns quarterback

Damar Hamlin, Buffalo Bills safety

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams quarterback

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins quarterback
