NFL injury update: Stars expected to miss Week 3 - Cooper Kupp, A.J. Brown, Isiah Pacheco...
Injuries are just an unfortunate part of the NFL and Week 2 brought more with it. Here are some of the players who could miss time in NFL Week 3.
We’re two weeks into the NFL season and already we’ve seen several players go down with injuries - some more serious than others. The second week brought more with it, causing chaos both for the teams and for Fantasy Football players.
Here are some of the big-name players who could miss time as we head into Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season.
NFL notable injuries ahead of Week 3
A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles WR (hamstring)
The Eagles receiver suffered a hamstring injury during practice on Friday. He sat out practice on Saturday and didn’t play in their Week 2 game against the Falcons on Monday night. He said that he expects to be out for “a couple weeks”.
Backup option: DeVonta Smith
Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams WR (ankle)
Kupp is the just the most recent of a slew of players to be injured on the Rams offense. Kupp suffered from an ankle injury during their loss to the Cardinals on Sunday and is expected to be out for “an extended period of time” and could possibly even land on Injured Reserve. This is a huge blow to the Rams, who are already without WR Puka Nacua for at least five to seven weeks (on IR with PCL injury).
Backup options: Demarcus Robinson and Colby Parkinson
Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs RB (leg)
The Chiefs’ running back depth was already being tested with Clyde Edwards-Helaire out, but now starting rusher Isiah Pacheco is set to miss time too. In their narrow win over the Bengals in Week 2, Pacheco exited the game with what coach Andy Reid called an ankle injury and left the stadium on crutches and wearing a walking boot. It was later reported that he fractured his fibula. He is expected to miss significant time - around six to eight weeks.
Backup options: Carson Steele and Samaje Perine. Kareem Hunt is expected to meet with the Chiefs today (Tuesday).
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers WR (calf)
Just after putting running back Christian McCaffrey on IR, the Niners were dealt another blow when wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a calf strain during their Week 2 game against the Vikings. He is expected to miss at least a few weeks.
Backup option: Jauan Jennings
NFL injured hopefuls ahead of Week 3
Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions WR (leg)
Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown left at the end of the game in their loss to the Buccaneers with a leg injury. It seems not to be anything serious though, as it was reported to just be a contusion and cramping, so he could still play in Week 3 when the Lions play the Cardinals.
Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings WR (quadriceps)
Justin Jefferson suffered from a quad contusion during their win against the Lions on Sunday. The team doesn’t appear to be too concerned about it though, as they said he was “feeling pretty good” on Monday. He’s considered day-to-day, but coach Kevin O’Connell likes his chances of playing against the Texans in Week 3.
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers QB (leg)
During the Chargers’ 26-3 win over the Panthers on Sunday, starting quarterback Justin Herbert hurt his leg after fumbling the ball in the first half. Coach Jim Harbaugh said on Monday that X-rays were negative on his lower leg, meaning he could be ready to play in Week 3 against the Steelers.
