Update:

The NFL received a lot of backlash for their choice to feature rapper Kendrick Lamar in the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. Part of the reason for that was that he was chosen over Lil Wayne, who is from New Orleans, the city that hosted the game. But another part was the post-show complaints, as many fans didn’t know Lamar’s songs well and were just not all that into it.

So for the 2025 Super Bowl, the NFL knows they need to consider going with someone local, or at the very least, going with a mega star. They decided to shoot their shot and are reportedly interested in asking pop star Taylor Swift to perform the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

Taylor Swift decided on Super Bowl LX proposal

An NFL source told the U.S. Sun they want an international star for the next Super Bowl halftime show.

Taylor is the goal. We want her to be doing the Super Bowl halftime show. It’s been something we should have done before,” they said. “It would be historical and we would make the best numbers ever and get someone that everyone loves and that doesn’t create any controversy.”

“We want an international superstar, someone that the whole world knows and that for sure would make an unbelievable show. That person is Taylor Swift. We will do everything to make it happen next year.

Their efforts will be in vain, however, if Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is still in the league. Swift reportedly won’t commit to a Super Bowl halftime performance as long as her boyfriend is still playing, and therefore has a chance to be in the Super Bowl. She prefers to support him from the sidelines.

“When she eventually performs at it, she wants all her loved ones to be able to experience it,” a source close to Swift told DailyMail.com. “And as long as Travis is in the league, the Chiefs have a chance to be in the game, so she is going to wait to do it till he is officially done.”

Kelce is currently contemplating the idea of retirement, but has not confirmed a decision as of yet. After losing the Super Bowl this year to the Philadelphia Eagles, he may want another shot at a championship. Then again, he’s won three Lombardi Trophies in his 12-year career, so he’s already accomplished quite a lot.

For the NFL and Jay Z’s Roc Nation - the company in charge of the Super Bowl halftime show - they’re ready for her when Swift is.

“Taylor is and always will be considered. And if she wants to do it, she will get the gig,” the source said. “The NFL and Jay are throwing other names out there and they will have someone confirmed on their side of things this summer and then announce it in the start of next season or at the latest Thanksgiving.”
