NFL Preseason begins on August 3rd from Canton, Ohio but before that teams will be putting the pads and hitting the practice grounds during training camp.
The NFL season is so close we can almost smell it. Players will be getting their last bit of R&R if not already getting prepped for training camp which starts in a few weeks. The last unsigned members of the rookie class will be signing contracts with their teams and scouts and front office members will be bringing in free agents looking for a roster spot on an NFL team this season.
Jets and Browns to kick off preseason
Some teams will bring in their rookies a few days earlier, while others will open camp to everyone on the same day. They hit the road for camp, taking offense, defense and special teams to facilities where players will live, eat and practice together each and every day.
It’s a far cry from the glamorous life style most NFL stars are used to, but it’s a crash course for a group of players to become a team. Camp lasts for around two weeks before teams get into the thick of their preseason schedules with games, and joint practices where teams go up against other teams to run drills with the score board turned off.
Rookies on some teams will start reporting to camp on Monday of next week while most vets will join the week after. The New York Jets will begin training camp later than any other team, starting on July 29th, which is a bit unusual when you take into account they will be kicking off the preseason slate against the Cleveland Browns just six days later in the Hall Of Fame Game from Canton.
