NFL Training camp schedule. Which teams have started NFL training camps already?
The NFL offseason is coming to a close as teams have started welcoming their rookie class to training camp this week. Here’s who has already opened up camp.
The wait is over football fans. The NFL is officially back! We may still be about a month and a half from Week 1, but after a long, desolate offseason the preseason has finally begun for some teams around the league.
Some rookies are already in the thick of training camp
The OTA’s were earlier this spring, but really other than a holdout not many headlines come from the ten day period spread out through May and June. OTA’s, or Organized Team Activities, give players the first taste of the new NFL season, but it’s far from a training camp. Players work out, chat with coaches, and maybe run a few routes but OTAs are more for making appearances than actually getting down to Xs and Os.
Many team’s training camps have at least half way begun. While the veterans will get their last few days of vacations while the rookies are being shown the ropes over the next few days. That applies almost every team, except the Las Vegas Raiders.
Most of the vets will be incorporated on the 26th of July, while some of the rookies have already reported to camp. Training camp lasts for a couple weeks, and is usually held in a city near where the team is located, if not in that very city.
Hall of Fame Game is August 5th
The opening games of preseason start in the second week of August. So that means teams will have about three weeks to prepare for their first official match of the preseason.
Some teams meet up in preseason practices to compete against each other in non-official matches, but the three week long preseason slate starts on August 4th when the Las Vegas Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars square off in the Hall of Fame Game form Canton, Ohio. The rest of the teams around the league won’t kick off their preseason campaign until the week after.
