There are only four more weeks of NFL action left, and three teams are officially out of the playoffs: the Denver Broncos (3-10), Houston Texans (1-11-1), and Chicago Bears (3-10). Others are on the verge of elimination, so some of the matchups on Sunday are absolutely crucial for survival.

The New York Giants (7-5-1) will meet the Washington Commanders (7-5-1) on Sunday Night Football, and the game was flexed to primetime for a reason. Both teams are pinning their hopes on the matchup’s outcome- the Giants will be trying to get back into the winning ways of their early days this season, as they are now dwelling at the bottom the NFC East.

The Commanders are the NFC number six seed, but they are teetering dangerously on the brink of contention, as a loss on Sunday coupled with a win from the Seattle Seahawks could push them out of the playoff race.

Quarterbacks will be pivotal

Another crucial matchup is the one between the Detroit Lions (6-7) and the New York Jets (7-6), with both teams still holding on to slim chances of a playoff seat. Lions quarterback Jared Goff has been on fire lately, but he hasn’t had much success against the AFC East in the past.

Jets QB Mike White is still recovering from a rib injury and needs to rally the team’s offense, as they have only rustled up two touchdowns in their last two games.

Here is a complete lineup of the games to be played on Sunday, Dec. 18.
