Update:
As they prepare for the Super Bowl, the Eagles have been rocked by the indictment of one of their offensive linemen, in connection with some sinister charges.

With their biggest game in recent years coming this weekend, the Eagles will take on the star-studded Chiefs for the honor of lifting the Vince Lombardi trophy on February 12th. The only problem is, they will be doing so without the help of one of their offensive linemen, following a situation for which he has found himself on the wrong side of the law.

Eagles’ Josh Sills indicted on rape & kidnapping charges

According to reports, Philadelphia Eagles guard Josh Sills has been indicted by a grand jury on rape and kidnapping charges in Ohio. The offensive lineman was charged in connection with an incident which occurred back in December 2019. As per reports, the indictment states that Sills engaged in non-consensual sexual activity leading to him holding the victim against her will. It’s important to note, that the incident was reported immediately to the police, which in turn led to an investigation being conducted. Sills’ case was presented before a grand jury, which subsequently recommended the charges that were later filed and announced by state prosecutors on Wednesday.

Who is Josh Sills and will he play in Super Bowl LVII?

Absolutely not. Shortly after Sills’ situation was confirmed, the 25-year-old was placed on the commissioner exempt list, meaning he can’t take part in practice sessions, play in games or travel with the team. That of course means, that Sills will not take the field when his team faces the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday 12th, February.

Signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent last offseason, Sills came from a prolific college career where he played for both West Virgina and Oklahoma State. During that time, he was First Team All-Big 12 on two occasions. Conversely, Sills’ time in the NFL has been less stellar, as evidenced by the single appearance that he had with the Eagles this past season. During what turned out to be a 20-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals, he saw just four special teams snaps. Where the postseason thus far is concerned, Sills has been listed as inactive for both of the Eagles’ playoff wins so far.

What have the Eagles said about Josh Sills?

As you can imagine, it wasn’t long before the team addressed the situation, releasing the following statement:
