Packers 27 vs 31 Bears summary, stats, score and highlights | NFL Playoffs NFC Wild Card

The Packers had a chance at the very end, but Love couldn't come up with his fifth T of the night in a game that he passed for 323 yards on 24/46 passing. The Chicago Bears know they are moving on to the next round and they know they will be at home next week after their first playoff win in 15 years. 

After the missed field goal, Chicago finally had the chance to tie or take the lead and Caleb Williams went for the kill, linking up with DJ Moore for the go ahead TD to complete the largest playoff comeback in Bears history. Williams passed for 361 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs on 24/48 passing. 

McManus missed a 50+ yard field goal, a PAT, and this 44 yard field. The Packers ended up losing by four points. It's going to be a cold night and a long offseason for McManus. 

Down by two scores, the second year QB didn't panic. He built up a quick drive that ended in this Olamide Zaccheaus TD to bring the Bears right back into the game. 

With all the momentum favoring the Bears, Love finally constructed a scoring drive and it seemed again like the Packers were in complete control after this Matthew Golden catch and run for a TD! Brandon McManus missed the PAT, and that would cost them later. 

The Bears defense got CHI back in this game, shutting down the Packers for most of the 2nd half. It took them 50 minutes to get into the end zone but there suddenly had life as they started a fourth quarter in which they scored 25 points. 

The Bears were knocking on the door again in the 3rd quarter, but Chicago went for it on forth down and Williams was picked off for a second time. 

Right before the half, Love threw his third TD of the night and of the first half as Green Bay looked like they were going to cruise to victory. 

The Packers added to their lead on the second possession of the night. Love was rolling, the offense was rolling and the Bears looked lost. 

The Bears went for it on a handful of occasions in the first half, just trying to keep up with the Packers offense but the GB defense kept on making stops. 

The Chicago Bears are moving on to the next round of the playoffs, but they needed the largest playoff comeback in franchise history to do so. They were down 21-3 at half, but kept fighting and ended up shocking the Packers in the final seconds of the game. 

The Packers came out looking the better team, scoring on their first three possessions, the first of which came on this play action pass from Jordan Love to Christian Watson. 

CHICAGO STUN THE PACKERS WITH A THRILLING COMEBACK!!!

Love fumbled the snap, picked it up, had time to look to the end zone but that was batted down and the Bears complete the epic comeback!

After a false start on GB backs them up 5 yards, Love steps up in the pocket and had his hand hit while throwing by Sweat and that pass will be ruled incomplete.

The Packers took a 21-3 lead with Love's third TD of the first half. He hit Doubs to polish off a first half in which he went for 139 yards on 9/15 passing. 

The Packers scored on their first three drives, this one went to Jayen Reed on a perfect play design by Matt LeFleur. 

The Bears have taken a few chances on 4th down tonight and none of them have worked. Williams looked great in the opening drive, but has struggled since. He's 8/17 for 78 yards with this TD. 

It's been all the Packers through the first 30 minutes. CHI came out and had a 16 play drive that ended in a field goal to start the night, but since then Jordan love has been in command. He hit Watson on the opening TD of his night.

It's chilly in the Windy City, as you would expect for a January game in Chicago. Its right around 32 degrees at Soldier Field and there should be some snow flurries falling throughout the night. 

Packers QB1s in the third season 

There's more than just hope surrounding the Packers Super Bowl aspirations, there is a little history to give them some added belief. Both Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre both won the Super Bowl in their third year as the Packers stater. This is the third year as the QB1 for Jordan Love and that has people hopeful of another playoff run to Super Bowl Sunday. 

Plenty of history in oldest rivalry in NFL

As you have probably read in our earlier posts or in the midweek build up to this game, this is the oldest rivalry in the history of the NFL. While these two teams have been division rivals for a century, and have met 218 times, with the the Packers edging out the Bears with a 109 wins to the Bears 97 wins. There have been six ties between the two teams, but the most surprising stat between these two teams is the amount of times these two historic franchises have met in the playoffs. Bears dominant D 

While a lot of the headlines surround the 2024 No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft and his first year head coach who is widely known as an offensive genius, it's the Bears defense that makes the difference in many of their games. They are the unit that creates the most takeaways in the NFL with 33, and have the best turnover differential in the NFL with a +22, which is five better than the 2nd placed team the Houston Texans.

Liam Cohen and Ben Johnson could join this short list of coaches to win a Super Bowl in their rookie year 

Ben Johnson with a chance to make history 

There are a couple rookie coaches set to make their playoff debuts as head coaches this weekend. One is Liam Cohen of the Jaguars and the other is Ben Johnson of the Chicago Bears. Both have a chance to make history should they lead their team to a Super Bowl victory in their first year as a head coach. It's only been done twice in the history of the league. Before the season, Caleb Willams set a few personal goals for himself. The second year QB who was sacked more than any QB last year and almost more than any QB in the history of the league knew he needed better protection, which he got this year, but wanted to improve his numbers. He talked about completing 70% percent of his passes and becoming the first Bears QB to throw for 4,000 yards. He ended the season with 3,942 yards and complete 58.1% of his passes coming up short of both of his goals, but I'm sure he is just fine falling short of individual milestones if it means that the Bears are back in the playoffs as the two seed in the NFC. 

Packers star watch 

In year three as the Packers starting QB, Jordan Love was a lot of people's dark horse to win MVP this season. He’s had some big games, and others that weren’t as numerically impressive, but what he has done is manage games in an efficient and effective manner. He’s 3,381 yards are far from the topping the charts in the league, and his 23 TDs are good but not great. What he does well is keep hold of the ball. He’s thrown just six INTs all season and he going to make sure to take care of the ball against a team that specializes in forcing takeaways. Love is coming off a few weeks in which he was sidelined with a concussion, and is playing his first game since Week 16.

Last year the Bears got off to a quick start in Caleb Williams rookie year winning four of their first six games, but a 10 game losing streak led to the firing of Matt Eberflus and opened the door for Ben Johnson to take over the the Windy City. Despite two losses to open the season, the Bears hung steady and would win 9 of their next 10 while showing everyone they were going to be a force to be reckoned with in the division and in the NFC. A loss to the Packers in Green Bay tightened things up in the NFC North, and despite losing three of their final five games, they hung on to win the division and earn the two seed heading into the playoffs. 

Packers season recap 

Green Bay came into this season with plenty of expectations after Jordan Love led the Pack to the playoffs in his first two years as the GB QB1. A shock signing of Micah Parsons right before the season turned the Pack from contenders to favorites in a lot of peoples book. They started the season strong losing just one of their first seven games. They would stay in contention for the one seed in the NFL into December but then disaster struck. Micah Parsons tore his AFC in a loss to Denver, then Jordan Love suffered a concussion in an OT loss to the Bears and the and the Pack would lose their final two games to back into the playoffs on a four game losing streak.
